Hello,
My emails appear both on my Wiko View 2Go smartphone and on my Thunderbird email client on my computer, so I find myself with dozens of emails on my smartphone to delete one by one, as I see no way to delete them all at once. If I delete them on my computer, they remain on my smartphone. Is there a procedure that allows me to extend the action performed on one device to the other, regardless of which device is used? In other words, I would like that as soon as I delete an email on Thunderbird, it is also deleted on my smartphone. I have two email addresses: a Google account in Gmail (configured in IMAP) and Microsoft in Outlook (configured in POP).
For example, I use Google's Gmail on my computer via Thunderbird and on my smartphone. I read an email on my computer, and once read, I delete it. When I go on my smartphone, the email should not reappear.
What should I do?
Best regards

Hello,
The email software is either IMAP (which syncs) or POP, but Gmail and similar services, and generally smartphones, are webmail: you cannot delete emails unless you do so directly on the server.
A number of email programs (I use The Bat!, but it’s paid) have this option: when you check your emails on the PC, you can delete them without even reading them (which is handy for certain emails...).
There used to be small programs (Mailwasher) when I was young that played this role for the most common email software; there’s surely an equivalent today.
But if you haven’t done anything on the PC, it’s too late unless you connect from your smartphone to your ISP’s site and delete the messages in question there.

Hello @Aldar10,
The protocol that syncs is IMAP.
As long as you're using the email software that comes with your smartphone (usually set up in IMAP by default) or the Gmail app, and your account is also configured in IMAP in Thunderbird, deleting in one will delete on the server and consequently delete in the other.

Both on Thunderbird and on my smartphone, Gmail is set up as IMAP and Outlook as POP, and the emails I receive in both accounts on my computer appear on my smartphone; what should I do?
Thank you
However, one question: should I configure Outlook entirely in IMAP (on Thunderbird and on my smartphone)? Or configure Outlook and Gmail in POP on Thunderbird and in IMAP on my smartphone?
I did a test with Gmail which is configured entirely in IMAP: I sent myself an email to Gmail and then I deleted it, and it doesn’t appear anywhere in Gmail on my smartphone; I should mention that before deleting it, I only left it on my computer for a few seconds; but imagine that I receive an email on my Gmail account on Thunderbird and it stays there all day or for several days; what will happen? And if I keep it in the folder of another account, for example an SFR account that is not configured on my smartphone; what happens?

Hello @Aldar10,
I don't have much to add to my post #2:
If you want synchronization everywhere, it’s IMAP everywhere.
It’s as simple as that, without overthinking it.
The danger is that if a hacker gains access to the account and deletes emails on the server, they will be deleted on all IMAP devices but not on those using POP.
The POP protocol only retrieves received emails and ignores all other folders.
In Thunderbird, when using POP, there is a sub-setting “(Leave messages on the server) Until I delete them” which means that if this option is checked and you delete an email in Thunderbird, it will be deleted on the server and consequently, it will be deleted on all IMAP devices but not on those using POP.
