Bring unread emails to the top

Hello,
I would like my unread emails to be at the top of my "incoming mail" window. I know that it's possible because it works on a colleague's mailbox, but she doesn't know how she did it... LOL...
Thank you in advance for your help.
Have a nice day

PS: I am using Thunderbird 30.3.1

Hello UITPOIT,

In the header of the message list columns, each area is clickable to sort by that criterion.

If the messages are sorted by date, this area contains a small downward-pointing arrow for descending sort and an upward arrow to reverse the sort if clicked again.

Between the paperclip (attachments) and the word "correspondents" are two horizontal dots and the head of a column where there is one dot per line.

A click on these two dots sorts the messages by "read" or "unread." Another click on them reverses the sort.

To return to the classic display by descending date, click twice on "Date."

In the message list, to change the status of a message from "read" to "unread" and vice versa, click on its dot.

P.S: I recommend updating your Thunderbird by clicking "? / About Mozilla Thunderbird." The up-to-date version is 60.3.1!!!

Hello SerBal22
Thank you for your response, but my colleague has managed to configure her inbox so that her unread emails automatically rise to the top, while the read emails remain sorted by date.
Is that possible?
Thank you

I just tried, and it is the case if they were previously sorted by date before sorting them by unread/read. If they were previously sorted by another criterion, they remain sorted by that other criterion with the unread ones at the top.

Thank you

What I wanted is for my unread emails to show up automatically without me having to sort them out...
It seems complicated apparently.....

Don't complicate something very simple!

You select the sorting criteria once and for all according to your preference, and this sorting will remain in place for that criteria and that folder until you change it, even after stopping and restarting Thunderbird.

I don't see what's complicated about that?!!!

If you want the unread at the top, you put the unread at the top, you don't change anything else and that's it!
