Hello everyone,

Following a power failure (dead battery), I was unable to access my Windows 10. The problem is when I try to use the command prompt or others (like in the photos), the PC tells me: you need to log in as an administrator to continue, but there is no admin account on this PC!!
I really don't know what to do despite my attempts at automatic repair but nothing changes! Really nothing!

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Click on the "File" menu and then on "Run new task". To open a command prompt window, type cmd. Don't forget to check the box "Create this task with administrative privileges". Then press Enter.

Try this first to see if you can access the command prompt. If it works, type rstrui.exe and click Enter. This is the System Restore tool.

    Ouch! So it's more serious than I thought... Do you have another PC on hand? The goal will be to download a Windows 10 ISO (version 21H1), write it to a blank 8 GB USB drive.

    You will need to click on "Download Tool Now". This tool is called Media Creation Tool. Plug in your USB drive. Click on the tool located in "Downloads" and choose to install directly on the USB drive. Expect about 40 minutes with an Ethernet and ADSL connection (shorter than with Wi-Fi).
    
    Then return to the sick and powered-off PC, plug in the USB drive, restart into the BIOS to set this USB as the first boot priority, and then try the repair again.

    Really, thank you and I am in the process of following your advice. Unfortunately, the sick PC won't boot into the BIOS because the F5 and F6 keys are dead! One might say bad luck is sticking to me!

    First try the repair, but if that fails, proceed to reinstall Windows 10 without losing any data or applications. MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE BOX otherwise you risk losing everything. The attached image is for example ==>

Thank you all... I finally managed to recover the PC thanks to a restore point and everything is running smoothly now! Finally!

In the future, remember to back up your data on an external hard drive so you won’t find yourself in the same situation, the stress of losing all your data...

  Happy for you Louis . . . Indeed, backing up personal data remains very important. The system and applications less so since they can be reinstalled. No hard drive or SSD is safe from a sudden failure, and then it's over for recovering any data. Perhaps by a process called "clean room," but the cost can be exorbitant at times!

    Hello and thank you first for taking the time.
    
    I read the topic carefully (I have exactly the same problem). After following the entire process (downloading the Windows 10 ISO to a blank USB drive, etc.), I am stuck at the installation of Windows. I press Upgrade (as the goal is of course to keep my files + applications) and here is what happens.
    
    PS: I did not modify the boot priority order in the Boot Menu; I directly selected the USB drive? Could it be because of that? I should mention that I have a Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop.
