Encrypted free channel

Question

Hello :)

I bought a TV this weekend and the TNT cable to connect to the outdoor antenna of my building.
My TV finds 27 channels, but when I go to channel 1 or other free channels, it says "encrypted channel." I reset it and searched for the channels, but it does the same thing.

Do you have any idea where the problem might come from?

Hello,
Are you sure that it's a collective aerial and not a cable distribution?
Your TV should have a cable tuner (DVB C), so try doing a search using that.

But if there is a collective satellite dish, you need to know which satellite it is pointed at, Astra 19.2° East? or another one?

Hello,
Ask the owner (or landlord, property management) for details about the reception method in the building...
Because your TV finds the channels (so there is reception) if it's cable, know that the operator must allow you to receive the free channels and this, at no cost (beware of subscription sales) and keep us updated.

Hello.
You're talking about a satellite dish, so the reception is via satellite.
Receiving TNT via satellite requires payment; you need a access card to decrypt the channels, either Fransat or TNTsat.
If the satellite reception is collective, you need to contact your property manager to find out the access procedures.

But you say you live in an apartment, so in the city, the easiest solution would be to set up an indoor TNT antenna to receive terrestrial TNT, and just so you know, a metal coat hanger can do the trick for a test. (P.S.: For terrestrial reception, the 27 channels of French TNT are always available).

Indoor antennas only work when they are close to and in direct line of sight of a transmitter, without obstacles... which means that in 95% of cases, they do not work... so buy them only if you are sure of a possibility of return.
