Hello everyone,

I wanted to ask a question regarding the TV decoder Orange that comes with the Livebox 5. Until now, I had a traditional ADSL connection, and after a phone call with a consultant at Orange, it seems that the building where I live is eligible for fiber optics, so for the first time, I will also have a decoder for TV (before, my speed wouldn't allow it).

However, I have a constraint in my apartment: the Livebox and TV decoder cannot be in the same room, and the WiFi will not be great with concrete walls. However, the electrical sockets in the apartment are equipped with PLC (with the WiFi signal relay). I looked a bit at the photos of the decoders on the Orange website, but I didn't see a specific description for PLC connected to a decoder (or maybe I missed the info), but since the decoder has an Ethernet input, I thought that normally, the PLC should do the job and allow connecting the decoder to the Livebox even when the two devices are not in the same room.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 89.0

    Hello,

I don’t know what sockets you have installed, but I have an SFR ADSL setup that was recently upgraded to fiber, keeping the box, the TV decoder, and the powerline adapters that connected the two, and everything is still working perfectly.

However, for the TV, the bandwidth needs to be sufficient: if it doesn’t work, you'll need to get a pair of powerline adapters with Ethernet output, at least 1000 Mbps, which will cost around €50.
