Hello,

Configuration: Linux / Firefox 88.0

Like the author of this page: https://www.numetopia.fr/activer-la-touche-verr-num-au-demarrage-sur-ubuntu/
it drives me crazy to always get caught every time I start Linux, I get frustrated typing on numbers that don’t appear.

I followed their advice and as always it doesn’t work. I'm using Kubuntu and I’m starting to think that unless you’re on Ubuntu/GNOME, no tutorial works.

Could you confirm this to me or point me to a reliable site dedicated to Kubuntu with dated pages, to avoid a lot of outdated manipulations?

I was into Linux at a time when there were no forums, and yet I managed. Today, everything changes too quickly, I can't keep up with the developments.
The graphical interfaces are never the same and it's the same in terminal mode.

My frustration may seem exaggerated as the problem here is not serious, but I spend way too much time fixing computer issues.
Having had a very good impression of Linux, I'm seriously considering going back to Windows.

Hello,

This question is fully covered on this page.

In your case, the easiest way is to go through the KDE control panel: Hardware > Input Devices > Keyboard > Num Lock on Plasma startup > Enabled.

Good luck

Hello,
And to activate the numeric keypad in the login window (in the case of a password with numbers):
sudo nano /etc/sddm.conf

Look for the [General] section
Add the line
Numlock=on

Save the file and restart the PC.
