Submit Button in an Acrobat Form

Question

Hello,
I need to send a PDF form to several people and I want them to return it filled out with their information.
The problem is that with Acrobat 8 equipped with Livecycle, the only option (so far as I can tell) is the "Send by email" button, which sends the data from the filled-out form with an XML file attached to an email that opens automatically in the mail client.
What I want is to configure this button so that once clicked, the form is saved with the filled-in data and sent in its entirety as a PDF attachment in an email.
In fact, I've looked into it, but it's impossible to send in any format other than XML; I would have preferred a more flexible format such as tab-separated text, for example.
About 4 years ago, during an internship, I was tasked with creating a satisfaction survey to be filled out and returned by email afterwards, and it seems to me that at the time, it required "coding" the "Send" button a bit with a script that allowed either saving and sending the form data in a text file.
So, I hope I've been clear enough. Could someone please help me?

Hello everyone,

I am currently testing PDF sending... and I found it! :)
You need to integrate a basic button instead of the "Send by email" button.
Then, in the button object's properties:
- tab Field > Control types: "Send"
- tab Send > URL: mailto:xxx@xxxx.fr and Send as: PDF

There you go.... ;)

Hello,

For Thunderbird, you need to go to the Edit menu, then Preferences in Acrobat 8 Pro (not Livecycle Designer). Then go to the Internet category, then Internet properties, then the Programs tab, then Email ==> Mozilla Thunderbird.

Have you found an effective solution for processing XML data? I haven't tried the above solution yet. And I haven't found a well-made tutorial for processing this information.

Hello,

To be able to send a form as a PDF, you need to have Adobe Reader Pro. Then, open your .pdf file, go to the Advanced menu, and click on Extend Adobe Reader Rights. You will then be able to send your PDF by email in PDF format, but if you modify it with LiveCycle, you will need to go to Adobe Reader Pro to re-extend the rights.

You know how to send the PDF via the user's messaging software, but does anyone know how to make this PDF form (available via a link on a Joomla site, for example) be sent directly to a specified email address in the form?

I solved a problem of this nature with FormDesigner that is indeed sold with Acrobat 8 Pro

Otherwise, add a hyperlink to the letter that will allow the recipients to download the PDF from the FTP, fill it out, and return it by email

To prevent the PDF from being modified, before sending it back, you need to use the print function of PDF Creator

That's what I used to do before purchasing FormDesigner

Before looking at these very expensive solutions, I prefer to reassure myself with you because reading your response, I feel like I didn't formulate my question properly.

I don't want to send the blank PDF form to users, but I want the user who fills out the PDF form available on my site to be able to send it directly to the specified email with one click once they have filled in the different fields.

Understood, for PDF you would need suitable tools and not free ones!!

The simplest thing is to create what is called a CONTACT FORM

The filled fields will be sent to your email address without the sender knowing your email address, no spam possible

You will receive the information in this basic format or better if you know PHP:

Address= xxxxxxxxxxxx
Address= xxxxx

Message= blablabla :)

Thank you for your collaboration and your examples.
I was familiar with contact forms (I've been taking my first steps with Joomla for a few weeks) and what I really wanted was to have a message containing the answers to a contact form with a very clean layout (with logo, header...) that would allow me to keep this receipt in the individual user files.
I quickly realized that working on the layout of these emails would be more complicated than managing PDFs, which is why I'm asking this question about PDFs.

OK in the meantime you can use a form, but be careful never to put the form directly on your webpage for security reasons and to avoid spam bots (unless you have strong protection), instead create a link.

With the data collected in txt format and by creating a database, you can, for example, use Excel and the Visual Basic editor macros to create a very neat layout;
(and convert it to PDF why not)
