Good evening
I regularly use my headset to hold online conferences.. the problem is connecting this headset to my office PC is not very easy given the placement of the PC.. I thought about using two extensions to make the connection of these jack plugs accessible.. the problem is when I plug in the jack extension the PC asks me to switch to headset mode.. which I don't want to do (for now.. later yes.. when I use the other end of the extension).. how can I resolve this issue
Thank you

Hi,
To detect the presence of the headset, the PC relies only on the presence of a jack plug, which explains why a headset is detected even with a simple extension
Because if I understand correctly, what bothers you is that as soon as you plug in your headset, it takes over and you have to listen through the headset as long as it's plugged in.
To change this, in Windows:
Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Realtek Audio Manager (assuming the sound is managed by a Realtek chip on your PC).
Once in the audio manager, you should find somewhere a box labeled "advanced settings" or something similar. There is then a box to check to separate the audio output for the front and back of the PC.

Hello,
If I understood your question correctly, you can simply switch the playback device on Windows 10 directly above the volume adjustment slider.
Best regards.
