Hello everyone.
I'm having a huge sound issue, I've been working on it for a week..
Here’s my setup:
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450M DS3H (Rev.1)
Processor: Ryzen 5 x2600
Graphics card: R9 390x 8 GB
I can't get any sound from the jack port on the motherboard or from the case.
I've installed the drivers but nothing works.. in the BIOS, the audio controller is indeed set to enabled, I also cleared the CMOS, and I replaced my motherboard with a new one two days ago.
I opened a ticket with the manufacturer earlier this week, we are stuck and not making any progress..
I installed my system in UEFI and in legacy mode, it makes absolutely no difference.
In the device manager, there is only the driver for the AMD high definition audio graphics card.
If you have any other ideas, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Give the device identification number of the High definition audio device
Look at this --> Find a device identification number
Post the number in your next message.
Edit : For new readers: Create your own thread with these identification numbers

Hello,
Try these 2 drivers in this order:
--> Chipset
--> Audio

Hello,
Have you tried using the default driver from Windows?
Open the Device Manager,
Expand Sound, video and game controllers, right-click on what looks like High Definition Audio
Update driver and device
Browse my computer for drivers
Select from a list of drivers on my computer
Check "Show compatible hardware" if it's not already checked
In the list of hardware, choose High Definition Audio
Choose next, if there is a warning message, choose Yes
Restart and test

Thank you for your message, Ulfh.
I already tested it; from the device manager, I select install legacy hardware and then I proceed with Realtek audio definition, but I get a blue screen.. I also tried the one that is offered by default from the Realtek folder that I downloaded from Gigabyte, and in both cases, I get a blue screen..

Emyle,
Understood, but going through the menu to install old generation hardware is different from what I wrote above.
Did you try exactly the way I wrote above as well?
I suggest you uninstall the driver (right-click on the device/uninstall/check to also remove the driver), then restart your computer and perform the steps above.
I propose this because I've encountered a similar problem before, and only the default Microsoft driver allowed me to recover the sound from the jack socket.

I have no more ideas!
Repairing Windows 10
Take a look at this --> Repair Windows 10 without data loss
If the problem persists:
Either the card is disabled in the BIOS or it is defective ??
You can wait for more opinions or see a repair technician.

Same here, I have no more ideas...
I actually replaced my motherboard with a new one thinking it was a hardware issue.
In the end, I think I'm going to get a refund and return the motherboard for good; the problem is I don't understand what could be causing this!
Because it’s supposed to work on Win 10 1709 or 1803.
I tried with another GPU, with just one RAM stick, but it's still the same, no sound!
I attempted to do an install with Win 7, but I lose the mouse and keyboard at the language menu before the install.
I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be Win 10 or nothing.

Emyle,
in Device Manager, go to Display, choose Display by connection.
Then scroll down the menu until you find your two High Definition controllers, you should see which high definition controller contains nothing, so I suggest you uninstall this device and remove the associated driver and restart.
Upon restarting, check if your controller detects your Realtek hardware this time, if nothing changes, go back to this High Definition audio controller, click on Update/Search for a driver on this computer/check Show compatible hardware/ and choose High Definition audio controller.

Emyle,
on the manual of your motherboard regarding the HD audio controller it states: If you wish to install a 3rd party add-in audio card instead of using the onboard audio, set this item to Disabled.
So if you can, I suggest you try removing your graphics card and connecting your monitor directly to the HDMI and/or DVI port on your motherboard, restart your PC, and redo the driver removal tests to check for any potential conflicts.
You can also try the driver below since ALC887 is mentioned in your manual:
https://www.realtek.cz/download-ALC887-sound-driver-for-Windows10-64bit.html
or
https://www.realtek.cz/download-ALC887-sound-driver-for-Windows10-32bit.html
If nothing works -> return to Realtek support and attempt to exchange the motherboard for an equivalent model..

Run an sfc:
Press Windows + X
Select --> Windows PowerShell (admin) or Command Prompt (admin)
Type --> sfc /scannow and hit enter
A system file check will take place.

A suggestion: test the headphones or the speaker connected via jack on another device to make sure they are working ;-)
Hello,
With this, the sound should ideally return through a USB port;
https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/cables-connectiques/mini-carte-son-usb-entree-sortie/f-1072020-921525.html
Personally, I have this on my old tower and the sound is powerful (plus it’s without dismantling) for less than 10 euros...
Hi kaneagle,
How’s it going?
See you later

Thank you MPMP10 for your message.
Yes, I'm sure that with what you're proposing, it will work, because I tested it with a Logitech USB headset, and it works without any issues.
I would still like to find out the reason behind this problem and, of course, take advantage of their audio chipset; the sound should have a good quality.
