Hello,

I downloaded Gimp because I have photos that I would like to rotate.

For example, on a landscape format image, I took a leaning tree, so it appears like this
\
and I would like to make a slight rotation so that it appears like this
I

Of course, the format will no longer be landscape, the entire photo will then be tilted,
but that’s okay, I will crop it, even if I have to 'cut the corners' and if my image will be smaller.

I can click on
open
which brings up my photo, I can click on
rotate
and specify the angle I want, the image indeed performs the requested rotation,
but then how do I save it like that?

I tried 'save as' and 'export' but nothing works, all the images I save, when I reopen them, they are all identical to the original image, landscape format, and leaning tree.

So how do I save my image after rotation?

Thank you for your help.

    Hello,

When you have the rotation grid, you need to press the [Enter] key or click the "Rotate" button to confirm the change.
After that, you need to crop it as desired: rectangular selection tool > Ctrl+A > use the handles to crop > go to the "Image" menu > Crop to selection.
Finally, save it by going to export as -> give it a different name (or add 2 at the end) and choose the jpg file format if it's not already set.

    Thank you for your explanation.
    Still unable to manage, I realized I must have been in the wrong section;
I was in 'Display - mirror and rotation - rotation'
instead of being in the 'Image - transform - rotation' section,
So okay. With this corrected, the rest up to saving works well.
    Thank you very much.

    Simpler:
Right-click on the transformation tool > choose rotate

Then, click on the image to manipulate
