Hello, my camcorder with a mini DV cassette displays 2 messages on the screen: "REMOVE AND REPLACE THE BATTERY OR POWER 06" and "DEVICE IN BACKUP MODE 06." It starts playing the film and stops immediately, showing these messages. I've charged the battery, removed it and put it back, but nothing works. I've tried removing the battery and using only the power cable, but nothing happens. What should I do? It hasn't been used in a long time. I don't know how to clear the messages or get it working again. I've ordered another battery... Thank you for your reply.
Best regards.

Hello, no other replies? It would have been wiser to post your message before ordering a battery because direct wiring was enough to test your camcorder.
After a few years, the contacts oxidize and your device starts malfunctioning. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that clever manipulations will revive your camcorder; this happened to me with two old cassette camcorders that I kept for transferring old tapes.

Remember to mark your message as "resolved" if that’s the case. -
To respond to "it would have been wiser to post the message before buying another battery," if I did it, it's because I hadn't seen and didn't know this "how it works" site before. As for the rest, it doesn't solve my problem. JVC has since told me to get a quote from an authorized repairer.

Hello,
Try to open the cassette housing and gently slide the tip
of a pen cap between the drive teeth, making very delicate left to right movements.
This simple manipulation on the cassette housing resolves the error unless there has been a violent impact that would completely distort the mechanism afterwards.
In this case, return to customer service.

Hello, we can of course open the beast, but it's not for everyone, and if there's a part to change, how do we get it? A customer service that accepts will make a prohibitive estimate to avoid having to guarantee the work. We can find second-hand ones to save the tapes by converting them to hard drives.
