Hello,
some time ago now, a sort of icon has appeared on a number of files (pdf, txt, jpeg, docx)
I would like to remove this "overlay icon" that I find visually more than polluting.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Frank

Hi Bean,
Frank85000 definitely has Norton in his programs (Norton Safe Web didn't just show up by itself).
This suggests that Norton antivirus was installed with Norton Cloud in the options/settings.
And it’s Norton Cloud that creates backups represented with the 2 little arrows (I don’t know if they were there before, but they are there now).
Before uninstalling Norton, you need to go to the Norton settings
to disable the backup status overlay
According to the screenshots, Norton Antivirus is no longer there.
This might be where the problem lies.
Wait and see about possibly reinstalling it and unchecking the box and the backup.
If it’s complicated, a system restore to a previous date to redo the procedure.
You need to have a restore point available and the system restore activated.
In another scenario, this is related to the backup synchronization with a Cloud software, and the only one offered by Windows 10 is OneDrive.
It also seems to me that the installation is recent given the dates on the screenshots, unless those are updates.
Refreshing the PC/W10 without losing documents would be another solution.

Hello,
Certainly a program that adds this
Look in the list of programs by sorting them by installation date, if there’s one that corresponds to the start of these icons

Hello,
==► 2 Blue arrows on all my files
Norton Online Backup should be disabled or uninstalled from the programs if you are not using it.

Good evening,
I can't remember the exact date, so I took a look at the software but I don't see any that are "weird"...
I'm sending you screenshots of the involved software from around the time this "icon" appeared, which is as bizarre as it is annoying.
Your eye might be sharper than mine!
Thanks!!

Since it is marked as the best answer, I don't know if you selected it? If not, you might not have seen it because it has been bumped to the top of the thread

Extremely well observed and a huge, huge thank you!
It was indeed Norton that was activating those 2 blue background arrows.
The "Overlay..." box was checked but grayed out. I reactivated the backup by checking the box to "take control back."
I then unchecked everything, went back to the desktop, refreshed, and...FANTASTIC!
Really, thank you again!
