Hello,
Just a quick question that's been on my mind:
Is a graphics card with DDR3 memory compatible with a motherboard that accepts DDR2?
Thank you.

Hi,
You can't replace DDR2 with DDR3, even if there are a very few motherboards in the Intel platforms that can handle either standard. With AMD, not at all. You need to change your graphics card. Even if it were possible, DDR3 would have offered you less than upgrading to a good graphics card. 256 or 512 MB, it all depends on your budget.
Good luck.

My graphics card just quit on me, I read (Thanks Epango) that I could put a DDR3 graphics card on my DDR2 motherboard, is that right?
I have a QuadCore Q6600, 3GB of RAM (2x512, 2x1GB) and an 8600GTS (which is failing on me). I'm planning to keep my QuadCore (which isn't so bad, right?) and upgrade to 4GB of RAM and a Radeon HD4850, what do you think???

Hi,
Indeed, you can install an HD4850 without any problem. There is no link between the RAM of your motherboard and the memory of your graphics card. Only the type of graphics port matters.
See you later

Hi,
In other words, you want to know if we can put DDR2 in a motherboard designed to accept DDR3. No, although the types of RAM have the same number of pins. However, there are some motherboards today that can accept either DDR2 or DDR3.
Good luck.

Hi,
You are absolutely right, I misread.
I confirm that graphics cards have their own memories that work independently of the main memory.
Best regards.

Hi.
So, I had a GeForce 8500GT that died on me. I replaced it with a Radeon HD 4670 in GDDR3 on a DDR2 motherboard. After installing the card and the drivers, I tried to launch a game (WoW, BioShock, Mass Effect) and then the disaster struck... black screen and the PC restarts... Optimistically, I thought it was a driver issue. So I went online to get new drivers, started the installation, and halfway through, the PC restarted again. It’s been two days, and it keeps restarting at the same point in the installation.
Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the problem?
Thanks!

Good evening, my computer:
Athlon 64 X2 4000+
2GB of RAM in DDR2
My graphics card (Radeon X1250) is inserted into my motherboard, I'm probably going to change it for a GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB DDR3
(or 512MB?????) Would you recommend that I keep my 2GB of DDR2 or buy a 1GB DDR3 RAM??
What is the difference between the two types of memory, please??
By buying this graphics card, will I have to change anything else!? The power supply or something like that?
Thank you in advance for your answers.

Hello,
hi everyone well I have an ASRock G31M-S R2.0 motherboard with DDR2. CAN I INSTALL A GRAPHICS CARD IN GDDR3 (NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 1 GB) or a (NVIDIA GeForce 9600 512 MB DDR3)?

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if it's possible to add a 512 MB dedicated DDR2 graphics card to a computer that has a DDR3 motherboard and a 256 MB dedicated DDR3 graphics card.
Also, I would like to know if DDR3 computers can support multiple graphics cards.
Please excuse these questions that may seem strange to you, but I don't know anything about this.
Thank you in advance for your answers, have a nice day everyone.

Hello,
"I would like to know if we can add a 512 MB dedicated DDR2 graphics card in a computer that has a DDR3 motherboard and a 256 MB dedicated DDR3 graphics card"
It all depends on the graphics port of your motherboard. Presumably, your motherboard has a PCI-Express 16X port? The graphics card would need to have the same type of port. The type of video memory it is equipped with (DDR2 or otherwise) doesn’t matter.
"Additionally, I would like to know if DDR3 computers can hold multiple graphics cards?"
That only depends on the motherboard: it would need to have at least 2 PCI-Express 16X ports compatible with CrossFire or SLI.

It is possible to install DDR2 RAM on a PC that supports DDR3; this is a Compaq computer with an AMD Athlon X2 215 processor - 3072 MB - 500 GB - DVD +/- RW Lightscribe drive - ATI Radeon HD 3000 graphics chipset - 5.1 audio - 10/100 Mbps network.
Hello,
I have a DELL PC configured as follows:
- Motherboard: DELL DXP051 / Intel DeKport i945G/P
- Processor: DualCore Intel Pentium D950 / 3400 MHz (17 x 200)
- RAM: 2048 MB / DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM
And I would like to upgrade from a GeForce 7500 LE (no comments needed) to a 9800GTX+.
Thank you for your guidance!
Best regards.

so if I want to replace my 7600 GS DDR2 card with an 8800 GS DDR3 card, I won't have any problem doing it?
++
No problem, as long as your motherboard has a PCI-Express 16X slot.
See you!

est compatible sur une carte mère en DDR ?
I have a processor ; Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E7400 2.80GHz
My motherboard is a ; GIGABYTE EP31-DS3L WITH PCI-EXPRESS
The RAM is 2.00GB DDR2 my problem is that I have a graphics card the 9400GT 512MB it's an NVIDIA GeForce from the Biostar brand and it's too useless
So I want to change my graphics card I want to get an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 480 and I want to know if it will work in my PC and here is the website for the graphics card
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS https://www.nvidia.com/fr-fr/geforce/20-series/
Please reply to me on this msn thanks ;eyman_14@hotmail.com
THANK YOU
Regarding your question, an E7400 may not be powerful enough for the demands of a GTX480. Furthermore, your power supply needs to be sufficient, with at least one 6-pin PCI-Express connector + one 8-pin PCI-Express connector. Additionally, your case needs to be large enough since this card is quite bulky. Instead of aiming for such a card, you could consider an ATI HD5770 or 5850 that might better suit your hardware.
