Hello,

I use Acronis to make my backups and I want to back up my SDD! However, Acronis gives me an error message at the end of my backup! "The last backup failed"! It shows me a red cross between the two disks. Does anyone have an idea to help me solve this mysterious problem? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

You can check your disks with Run > CMD > CHKDSK /F X:

(Replace X with the letter of the disks)

    Then disable your antivirus protections.

These are probably the most likely/obvious reasons.

I just did a check and it says invalid reader, path, or filename.

You didn't replace the X as I wrote?

If I replaced them well! It gives me reader, invalid path or file name

I just redid it and now it shows me this message:

    c:\ Users\xxxx>CHKDSK /F X:
The type of the file system is NTFS.

Chkdsk could not be executed because the volume is in use by another
process. Chkdsk can run after this volume has been unmounted.
OPEN DESCRIPTORS ON THIS VOLUME WILL NO LONGER BE VALID.
Do you want to force the unmounting of this volume? (Y/N)

What will it do to me? I hope it won't reformat my SSD? I haven't saved my SSD so I'm hesitant to perform this action...

Restart the PC just before, the descriptors may not be open, then if they are it's not a big deal, close them and execute the operation.

If there are errors in the file system, it’s better to fix them.

      Okay, I made a repair.
So I should be able to try to make a new backup on Acronis?

You disable or uninstall your antivirus if you have installed one.

In case it causes a conflict.

You should check with the Acronis company.

I don't know the location of their logs, nor how to interpret them.

If I can't solve this problem, I'll try something else. What other backup software can you recommend?

Thank you, but they are paid! In the meantime, if I can keep the topic open for those who might be able to find a solution to my problem.
