Asus Vivobook hinge issue/request for feedback

Hello,

I discovered this morning that one of the hinges on my Asus Vivobook laptop is damaged (see attached photo). The right hinge is slightly ajar compared to the left one, as you can see. For the moment, there’s no problem with opening it, but I would prefer to address this before it gets worse...

Before doing anything, I would like to have your opinion, if possible by looking at the photo: does the hinge need to be replaced? Can I do it myself or would it be better to entrust this to a specialist?

Thank you in advance for your help and have a great day!

    Hello,
Check if your laptop is still under warranty for support from Asus; otherwise, check if the hinge on the screen side has simply come loose.

      Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply! Yes, it is still under warranty. I am indeed wondering if it has come loose, but how can I put it back in place? I tried quickly, but I was afraid to damage it further... Is it possible to do it this way, or do I need to disassemble the computer?

      Thank you!

Remove the rear cover by unscrewing it.
I notice the presence of 4 Torx screws in the screenshot. There are likely more present.

WARNING not to strip the screw threads of each one, otherwise the warranty may be compromised.

        Thank you :)
I will try to check with customer service, and if not, I will remove the back cover as you suggested. The screw thread, what does that mean? (sorry, I'm not very handy ^^')

    Hello,
From what I see on the ASUS spare parts
    https://www.accessoires-asus.com/charniere-droite-pour-vivobook-63462-68543.htm#x512fa|l
the hinge is a metal part.
Your photo shows a plastic piece attached to the hinge to cover the metal part.
Therefore, it seems that this "decoration" in the color of the cover is simply detached and is not vital.
If your device is under warranty, try to take advantage of it, but do not intervene yourself as disassembly is necessary and it would void the warranty.

      Hello,

Thank you for your response! If it’s not the hinge, that would reassure me!
In your opinion, (I know it's not easy based on just a photo), does it still require checking with them, or is the peeling of that part unlikely to affect the opening/closing of the screen?

If you are not at your BEST for disassembly, go through customer service.
Question: How do you open the hood,... from the center or from the side(s)?

Completely detached, these plastic parts could certainly get stuck at some point.
Therefore, opening it could become more difficult, even get jammed, and forcing it might then risk damaging the shell.
