Hello,
I have been using Microsoft Office for a few weeks now, and for the past few days the text selection color has been black. I'm surprised because I haven't made any changes.
I searched online for information to fix this little problem, but apparently there's nothing we can do.
I am reaching out to you since I couldn't find the answer anywhere: given that the original color when I started using Office Word was a transparent blue (which makes me think that returning to the standard color is possible), how can I proceed?
I should note that I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the software with the same result, and I am specifically talking about the text selection color and not the highlighting color.
Thank you in advance.
Have a good evening
Configuration: Windows / Edge 86.0.622.68

Hello,
by any chance, have you changed the theme or even activated the "accessibility" mode with, for example, the "high contrast" option?
In the Windows 10 settings, search for the keyword "accessibility" to access it easily.

Hello,
First of all, thank you for taking the time to respond to me.
I just checked, and the high contrast is indeed disabled.
I noticed that the black selection is only present in Word; for example, in Microsoft Edge it is blue (original color), and in PowerPoint it is gray (I don't know if that's the original color, but it's not the black from Word).
So it seems to me that the problem is with Word and not with Windows.

Some parameters may be taken into account by applications (especially Microsoft ones) and not by others.
What happens if you press Left Alt + Shift + Print Screen?
It toggles high contrast options without switching the button in the settings. You can revert using the same combination.
The only simple way I know would be to reset Word's default settings by deleting the default template file, normal.dotm.
Close Word. Delete it: it will be automatically recreated.
See here: https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/office/modifier-le-mod%C3%A8le-normal-normal-dotm-06de294b-d216-47f6-ab77-ccb5166f98ea
It is specified:
Note : If Normal.dotm is renamed, corrupted, or moved, a new version will be automatically created (with the original default settings) the next time Word is launched. The new version will not include any of the customizations previously applied to the renamed or moved version.

I tried both options you suggested and neither works.
Is there support for Microsoft 365? There might be an error in the app.
I also tried using Word directly online on Edge and the selection color is normal...

If it's Office 365, it's no surprise it didn't work (especially for normal.dotm): I didn't realize it was the online version.
Help is likely available here: https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/contactus/
First, you will ask your question to a virtual assistant, and if there's no solution, you'll be offered to talk to someone...

No, no, it's only in the app that the color is black and not online, that's why I think it's an issue with the app (the normal.dotm could have worked).
I will try to find a solution with an assistant, would you like me to inform you if they provide a solution?

Hello,
My issue is resolved. It was the voice recognition that was causing this little bug. It was strange since I had already disabled it, but by enabling it again and then disabling it, the selection color is gray like in the other Microsoft Office applications.
Thank you anyway for trying to help me.
Have a nice day!
