Hello,
It's a complex problem, and I've scoured the forums before coming here, but it's really hard to understand...
Let's start from the beginning;
I often repair laptops.
I'm working on an HP Pavilion G7 that runs Windows 8, completely worn out because it’s overloaded with viruses. So I decided to format it and install a Windows 7 Pro that I have on hand.
I use a USB stick to boot, set the disk to MBR using Diskpart, and install Windows.
Everything goes well; I then install all the drivers and the basic programs (Firefox, OpenOffice, VLC, CCleaner, WinRAR, Java).
And then, I can't connect to the internet via Wi-Fi.
The Wi-Fi activation button is lit up orange, the card is not found in the network settings or in the device manager.
I've downloaded and installed all versions of all possible drivers, without success.
Internet works great via Ethernet through the Ethernet port.
I really don't know what to do anymore, so if anyone has an idea, I'm all ears!

ok, do this:
1) download 7zip to your desktop --> click here
right-click on 7zip, and choose "run as administrator" to install it
2) Download this driver --> click here
and put it in your documents.
Right-click on --> sp53753.exe
Select --> 7Zip
Choose --> extract to "sp53753\"
Go to device manager.
Right-click on the device --> network controller
Update the driver
Browse my computer ......
Choose from a list of drivers...
Have disk
Browse
Go to your documents
Go to the extracted driver folder --> sp53753
Folder --> 88_92_CE_Driver
Folder --> Win7X64
Select the file --> net8192ce.inf and OK
Restart and let us know what it does

Select --> 7Zip

As mentioned in the first message, I equipped the computer with WinRAR during the reinstallation of Windows, so I will allow myself not to download 7zip since they have the same function.
If this constitutes a significant methodological bias, please let me know, and I will then follow the procedure you described to me.

In the Device Manager, there is indeed a category called "Other devices" with a single line named "Network Controller"
give the identifier of the network controller --> click here
the 1st line is enough, post it via 1 copy/paste in your response

no problem for the help, we were happy to do it :)
no problem for using Winrar instead of 7zip --> same "battle" for both software
just one thing, you know that W7 is no longer supported by Microsoft (updates etc...) since January of this year
you can still upgrade the PC to W10 for free

Okay for WinRAR, but what do you mean by W7? I have three computers at home running on it without any issues, so I don't understand... Do you mean I can't update it anymore? If that's the case, the first thing I do when I set up a pc is turn off automatic updates, and that's why I actually hate W10, which prevents you from disabling updates! So if that's all there is to it, thanks for the info but it's no problem for me :-)

The end of support for W7 was on January 14 of this year, and as a result, you no longer have security updates, etc...
You just need to be careful about what you do with your computer(s) to avoid infections, etc...
As for drivers, since W7 is no longer supported by M$, manufacturers will no longer update the drivers for W7 for the hardware.

In Device Manager, I do have a category called "Other devices" with one line named "Network Controller." I thought that was it and tried to update it automatically using the Windows tool (right-click, update driver) unfortunately without success.
In the "Network Adapters" category, I have one line named "Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller," which corresponds to my wired network card.
When I show hidden devices, nothing additional appears in "Other devices," but in "Network Adapters," I now have 10 additional lines, which are as follows (the Realtek is still there, of course):
- Microsoft ISATAP Adapter
- Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #2
- WAN Miniport (IP)
- WAN Miniport (IPv6)
- WAN Miniport (L2TP)
- WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)
- WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
- WAN Miniport (PPTP)
- WAN Miniport (IKEv2)
- WAN Miniport (SSTP)
I apologize for the lack of precision, the laptop is an HP Pavilion G7 - 1235sf and it runs on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
It has an AMD E2-3000M APU processor at 1.80GHz and 4GB of RAM.
