Hello to the happy users of a Gigaset A415 phone.
I think I’m a victim of “planned obsolescence”: for 4-5 days now, I can’t access the address book. When I press the square button at the bottom to request access to the address book, I get: “New entry?”. No way to access the address book...
Could a kind soul tell me how to resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Pat

    Hello,
    Nothing abnormal there...
Pressing the down navigation key the first time yields a new entry
to reach the directory you have to press down again.
Excerpt from the manual on page 7

Very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
    Especially when it isn't there...

    Hello Baladur13,
It's just like you said up to the second downward press. Nothing happens. It stays stuck on: "New entry?"
In fact, before the device bugged, it was enough to press down once to directly display the name and number of the first contact saved in the directory. Then, to choose the right contact, I either scrolled through them, or I typed the first letter of the contact's name, as indicated in the manual.
Or maybe it's the virus... Damn Covid-19. Maybe our president will give me the solution tonight?! Or perhaps light a candle but I no longer believe in Santa Claus.
What does your black cat say, dear Baladur13?
    See you later.

By chance, unbeknownst to your own free will, has there not been a complete deletion of the directory...? Try adding two new contacts to see if the directory reappears as before. Do you only have one device?

    Hello Baladur13,

Well there you go! You’re right, the unconscious act of my free will must have betrayed me. But how is such a thing possible! If you knew the headaches I have with my mobile phone that has a touchscreen like it's the norm now. Often, without realizing it, I leave my big fingers here and there. And then, a new adventure begins...

I don’t have a second handset in service. It’s already a mess with just one, don’t you think?

So, I did what you told me: I saved 2 contacts and I called the directory and everything works as before. I suspect the directory could have been backed up on the 2nd handset? Well, it’s not too serious. I’ll take advantage of it to reconstruct my directory by eliminating old contacts.

A big thanks to you and to this CCM forum.

    See you,
    Boubou
