Hello everyone

I have had a Mac version 10.10.5 (OS X Yosemite) for a few years now
Safari has been refusing to open certain windows for several days and sometimes gives me this message "obsolete browser"
I'm stuck because to access certain documents I have to use my iPhone and it's far from practical!
I'm counting on one of you to help me as I am definitely not a pro in computers!
Thank you in advance

    Hello,

You need to give us more information about your Mac, including its configuration; it might, perhaps, be able to upgrade to a newer OS and thus a newer browser. We’re not mind readers ;-)

    To find your configuration:

    Here’s a visual guide <== click here

And send us a copy/paste of the information in your next response.
We’ll be able to assist you.

When it’s urgent, it’s already too late (Talleyrand)
When everything has failed, read the manual ;)

      Hello Meline,

This iMac, 21.5" mid 2010 model, can be upgraded to Mac OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) and can accommodate up to 16 GB of memory. Yours, with only 4 GB, meaning two 2 GB sticks, originally, will struggle a bit with it, so you should add a 4 GB stick of 204-pin PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM and that would be fine.
It's easy to install; there are 4 slots on this model.

If you have installation issues, see here:
      https://www.journaldulapin.com/2018/04/23/date-terminal/

You need to check that your applications are capable of running on 10.13, possibly after updates, and the same goes for your printer driver.

If you have any problems or questions, let us know what’s happening.

As for your browser, it’s always good to have a second one, just in case! You can use Firefox or Google Chrome.

But with Safari version 10.13, you won’t have any issues.

You should never say that; when you want to, you can! Otherwise, find a friend who knows a bit about it!
For the memory sticks, you have a kit of two 4 GB sticks, which would give you 12 GB of memory and then your iMac would be perfect:
you can find them here <== click here

For the installation of Mac OS 10.13, if you carefully follow the instructions provided in the links, you shouldn’t have any problems.

Do you not have anyone in your circle who could help you?

    Hello everyone, it's Cdbvs

    Hi Meline_5179 and Dede74000,

If we're going to talk nonsense, would Tenfourfox solve the problem? I know it doesn't work on all Mac OS X!

Tenfourfox is not at all the right solution. It is a browser developed based on Firefox for older Macs with PowerPC processors running Leopard, which could no longer evolve and receive "accepted" browsers for various sites. Today, Tenfourfox will cause even more problems than its current version of Safari and is even less likely to be installable on his Intel Mac.

Dede provided the right solution: install High Sierra after upgrading memory and all problems will be solved.

    Best regards ;)
