Hello,
I have an issue with my new computer (Windows 10). In fact, I have detached 2 applications from the taskbar: Xbox and Dragon Center.
But every time I restart or put the computer to sleep, they automatically re-pin themselves to the taskbar.
How can I "unpin" them permanently (without uninstalling the applications)? I should mention that I have already disabled the launch of these apps at startup. But no way, they keep re-pinning themselves on my taskbar.
See for yourself, image below:
Thank you in advance for your help.
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 85.0.4183.121

Nothing is working.
I've tried everything...
If anyone has another idea, I'm all ears.
In the meantime, I'm uninstalling these apps; I wanted to keep them just in case, but I'm not using them, so goodbye. I hate when a system imposes software or settings like that on me; it really annoys me.

Thank you for the names of the applications.
I think that the 2 applications launch at startup if present in the task manager; I should have started there.
Right-click on the taskbar ► Task Manager (click on More details if you see nothing)
Tab ► Startup
Disable them if you see them.
If you don't know how, post a screenshot.
Or to gain clarity, download ► Autoruns
It’s in English and that’s okay.
Right-click and run it as Administrator.
Look at the tab ► Logon (that’s what launches at startup).
Uncheck the box if necessary.
Do not uncheck any boxes in the other tabs if you take a look.
If you don't know how, post a screenshot.
I don't think you should uninstall the two applications for the reason that Xbox is integrated into Microsoft in its W10 system and Dragon Center is part of the system of your PC brand; I will check later as I am in a Handi-project training.
Have a good evening.

Hello,
Already done. Everything related to "settings for this or that," I've rummaged through everywhere and unchecked everything that could be unchecked... And in all possible settings windows.
Anyway, for now, I've uninstalled both apps, too bad.
If someone knows exactly where this problem/bug is coming from, then I would be happy, but in the meantime, too bad, I'm moving on to something else.
Thank you for your help, pistouri.

I had proposed it in this post (In French).
It hadn’t worked for the user, and I forgot to suggest it in this post.
Also seen over there.
In French :
Hoping this works for EraldCoyle.
A+

Regarding the fact that Dragon Center cannot be unpinned from the taskbar, this is a default behavior of Windows set by Microsoft.
If you want to unpin Dragon Center from the taskbar, I suggest following the steps below to do so.
1. Open the command prompt as an administrator and enter the following string:
del C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\LayoutModification.xml
2. Open the command prompt as a normal user and enter the following string
del "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\LayoutModification.xml"
3. Unpin Dragon Center from the taskbar
4. Restart and check the result
Hoping this works for EraldCoyle.
A+

Hello,
Try these procedures and move on to the next one in case of failure.
1- Go to the task manager in the processes tab.
Check if you see your applications, and if present, right-click -► End Task.
Open the Start button or press the Windows key.
In the alphabetically sorted list, search for your applications, right-click, then -►More-► Unpin from taskbar.
Restart the PC to check.
2- Take a screenshot of your icons on the taskbar or note them down.
Keyboard keys Windows + R or right-click on the Start button then on the line -► Run
Copy/paste:
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
Then OK
In the AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations window
Delete the lines -► automaticDestinations-ms
Close the window.
Restart the PC and check.
This deletes all shortcuts, you will need to pin back those you noted (see your screenshot if you took one).
3- Switch to a local account if you are signing in with a Microsoft account.
==► convert a Microsoft account to a local account
4- SFC and DISM
5- Update Windows 10 to have the latest available version.
As of today, it's version 2004.
To find out, in the search box on the taskbar (Magnifying glass), type ►winver
P.S. ==► Create a restore point as a precaution.
See you later

Hello,
What applications do your 2 icons on the taskbar correspond to in your screenshot?
Please provide the names in your next message.
When you open them, you should check the options
such as Display or Advanced options.
Aside from the globe icon that suggests a network connection (like a VPN), I’m not sure about the other icon.
By right-clicking on your 2 icons, you might find the properties.
Have you done the 2009 update?
It was released 1 day ago, and who knows, it might resolve the issue.
Talk to you later!

So, for your information, the computer is new. I didn't install these apps; they come pre-installed on the PC. They are:
- Xbox (Microsoft app)
- Dragon Center (MSI app)
A Microsoft app and an MSI manufacturer app... They are probably pinned by default, which I can understand, but I really don't understand why they keep reappearing once we've unpinned them.
As for the settings, I've checked almost everything: task manager (closing/unchecking/disabling everything related to these 2 apps), startup settings (I unchecked the 2 apps), taskbar settings (I disabled the 2 apps), app settings themselves (closing/unchecking/disabling everything that was possible), nothing works.

I had already disabled the 2 apps in the startup tab of the task manager.
Yes, they are "official" apps, but I uninstalled them and it doesn't cause any problem; they can be reinstalled at any time... But I find it a shame to come to this just for some pins, but since nothing is working...

Hello,
Do you ever look:
Right-click on the taskbar ►Taskbar settings
At the bottom the line -► Select which icons appear on the taskbar.
Disable the highlighted box if the applications are present.

Hello, I had exactly the same problem but on W11, and this method worked.
Thank you
It worked for me too.
