Hello,

If "Main Battery (Internal) (601)" appears in the alert message, this means that the measured storage capacity of the main battery (internal) is less than 25% of the original storage capacity.
The number "601" indicates the associated error code that is recorded in the system log.

To resolve a battery alert message, perform the battery test in the System Diagnostics environment (F2) and calibrate the battery for optimal performance.
To access the HP System Diagnostics Battery Test, turn on the computer and immediately press the Esc key to display the startup menu.
Press the F2 key for System Diagnostics, then select the Battery Test option.

Thank you. But my battery has been dead for years, there might be a second internal battery and that one might also be dead. So I stay plugged in all the time and it used to work but not anymore. So, is there nothing I can do? Is the computer trash??

A new battery is not very expensive.

Okay. Are you talking about the removable battery or a possible internal battery? Sorry, I don’t know much about this...
Since my battery has been dead for several years and my laptop is always plugged in... What if it still worked anyway...
