Lack of FAN port

Hi, I have a small problem. I have a case with 3 fans included, and if I add the one for the processor, that makes a total of 4, but my motherboard only has 3 fan ports, so I'm missing one to connect them all.

How can I remedy this situation? Or am I condemned to unplug one of the front case fans for the sake of the CPU fan?

    Hello,

You can connect them directly from the power supply.

Besides, apart from the CPU fan, I don't see any point in connecting the other fans to the motherboard, which could, in case of a fan failure, cause one of its fuses to blow.

The power supply has much more power to manage the fans, and you only need to find some adapters; in fact, some fan brands provide the adapters as well as voltage reducers to decrease the speed and thus the noise of the fans.

Can it work with a standard power supply?

Of course, if the current is going through your motherboard, it means it's coming out of the power supply, so yes, it will work with any power supply.

So you're advising him to draw power through the motherboard?

"Pumping is a big word; it's 2 coolers included with the case... if they're 4-pin, at least we can control them with the motherboard."

Yet very often, fan manufacturers provide "Molex" adapters so that we can connect them directly to the power supply.

I've never done or seen a PC build, so that's why I didn't know, but after looking into it a bit, I saw that fans connected directly to the power supply run at full speed and that it wasn't possible to regulate their speed.

With the speed reducer you proposed, can we fix that?

Yes, there are also small boxes with adjustments located on the front of the tower to adjust the speed of each fan.

The fans run at full speed, of course, but you can choose the fans depending on the air they circulate and the noise they produce.

Yes, but to control the fan speed, they need to be connected to the motherboard.

What I want to know is whether we can control the fans when we connect them to a standard power supply, or do we need a so-called "smart" power supply for that? Or is it just not possible?
