Files ".mpp" ".msox" after chkback

Hello,

I had issues with my USB drive, and on recommendation I ran chkdsk, which gave me a found000 folder with .chk files inside.

I then ran chkback, which converted some files into images and videos, but I also have .msox, .mso, and .mpp files and I’d like to know what they correspond to, please?

Thanks in advance.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 84.0.4147.89

Here is the procedure translated into English, preserving the HTML structure:
    1. Open CMD
    2. Type the letter corresponding to the drive or USB key.
    3. Type the DIR command
    4. Normally, the Found.000 folder will appear and it must be copied.
    5. To copy this folder, type the command (for my case) xcopy D:\Sauvegardes\Recup (If the “Recup” folder does not exist you will be asked whether the destination is a file or a directory.
    6. It’s a directory, so type R
    7. Once the *.chk files are copied, download the Chk-Back utility (http://trcdatarecovery.com/software-apps/chk-back
    8. Once unzipped, run setup.exe
    9. Wait for the utility installation to finish.
    10. Open chk-back.
    11. Click on “Browse” to search for the “Recup” folder.
    12. Once the files are found by the program, click on “Start”
    13. The utility recovers the files into a folder “ChkBack 2 Results”
    14. You will see the files scrolling with their extensions, except for the “Unknown” files, whose type is unknown).
    15. The files with extensions *.mso and *.msox are Doc and Excel files. They will need to be converted.
    16. Open CMD. Go to the folder where the recovered files are located. So, D :
    17. Then, type CD ‘’Sauvegardes\Recup\ ChkBack 2 Results’’
    18. Use the command “ren *.msox *.doc” to rename the *.msox files to *.doc
    19. Do the same for the *.mso files to *.xls
    20. Type “Enter”. Note, do this in this order: first the msox files, then the mso

    Hello,

Recovering this type of file is not an exact science.
Generally it doesn’t work very well.

In the future, to avoid data loss, I invite you to back up your documents.
These links explain how to do it:
