Hello everyone,
I have tried all possible ways to upgrade my Windows from 7 to 10.
Using the Media Creation Tool, when I tried to create a file on a USB drive, error code 0x80070005 - 0xa001b appeared at the end of the process.
Upgrading the PC directly via the Media Creation Tool doesn't work either; at the end of the process, a message appears saying "Windows update failed" without any further details.
I have scoured all the forums, tried all alternatives, and contacted Microsoft support, to no avail...
Has anyone encountered these errors before? Does anyone have any idea on how to proceed to install Windows 10?

Hi,
since all of this has failed, the best thing is to start from scratch, which means:
- back up all personal files
- install from a downloaded Win10 ISO image here using this procedure:

Follow the procedure for Windows 10 Home 64-bit by saving the ISO file and then burning it or mounting it on a drive > once the file is created, launch the setup from Win7 OR launch it from a USB drive using Rufus or a burned DVD

Generally, it's on PCs older than 2015 or corrupted Windows 7 or an outdated driver (hardware or software).- Uninstall installed antivirus programs, programs like Daemon tools, etc.
- Use Driverscloud to get them in a more automated way: Update your drivers with DriversCloud

Install the Windows 2004 update manually with the update assistant or Media Creation tool.

If it doesn't work, install Windows 10 directly from a USB stick as previously suggested.
This will also migrate the license, but you will need to reinstall all applications.

Backup important documents before doing this.
If all this is too much, stay on Windows 7 and wait for the PC to die or switch to Linux.

Hello,
1- Check what is offered for Windows on the manufacturer's site for the laptop/desktop or motherboard
2- Update the BIOS if there are any
3- Disable the antivirus during the key creation or upgrade phase
4- Try to create the USB key from another PC
I have upgraded PCs running Windows 7 that are over 10 years old, so nothing is impossible, but I wonder if the latest versions of Windows 10, 1909 or 2004, have any issues for an upgrade?
