Youtube update on Tab 2

Hello,
I have a Samsung Tab 2 model GT-P5110 running Android version 4.1.2.
I'm experiencing an update issue with the pre-installed YouTube app.
When I open the app, it prompts me to update, I click ok and it redirects me to the Play Store. So far, so good. There I'm given the option to Uninstall or Open. I choose to uninstall, and after a few seconds, the Uninstall button changes to Update. So I select Update since that's what I'm being asked to do.
Once the update is complete, I can access YouTube normally.
The issue arises when I close the app or put my tablet to sleep; YouTube prompts me to update every time. I've done this several times, turning the tablet off and on before and after the update. I've tried updating Android, but apparently it's up to date. I've attempted a lot of things, but nothing works.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and can help me, please?
