Sony TV blackout green light issue
Hello,
I have a Sony KDL-40EX402 TV.
The TV was in standby, I turned it on this morning, and the green light remains steady with no image, the screen is completely black.
I can't turn it off with the remote or the button. I have to unplug it.
When I plug it back in, the green light comes on immediately.
Every 35 seconds, the green light turns off and then back on, and a very slight crackling sound comes from the speakers.
I waited and it did this 8 times before I unplugged it.
I did try a power reset by unplugging it for several minutes, but it doesn't change anything.
Just to note, there was no storm..

Hello and welcome to this forum,
This may be an issue with electrical overload from the TV's protection circuit;
The solution is very simple and worth trying:
You need to unplug the power cable and connect the two prongs of the plug together (short circuit with an electrical wire, a metal wire, a paperclip) for at least an hour to allow the protection circuit to discharge.
