Hello,
following a W10 reset, I can no longer access my DS410 disk station connected with a yellow phone cable. How should I proceed to get it working again because my backups are on it? I want to update all my folders.
Thank you for your help.
If I remember correctly, I had to enter "000.000.0.0." as a number for example.
Thank you all for your help.

Hi,
a yellow telephone cable?
An RJ45 ethernet cable, I suppose?
Is the NAS connected directly to the PC or to a switch, to a box?

Hello,
So your Station DS410 must be a Synology, if I guess correctly..?? And the phone cable is actually a RJ45 network cable connected to the back of your BOX...
Normally, you can access it by entering its IP address in the address bar of your web browser... For example: 192.168.1.27:5000 followed by port 5000 separated by the colon.
I assume you accessed it in your File Explorer, as a network drive, that's where we don't quite understand what you had before and what you can't find anymore...??
To appear in your drives on the PC, you must have "Network Discovery" enabled; you may need to wait a bit and normally it should find your DS410 which should then reappear on your PC.. -
Hello,
If you haven't touched the installation or the Synology, just reinstall W10 and check the SMBV1 settings: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-35370397-je-ne-vois-plus-ma-freebox

a stranger is a friend we haven't met yet.-
To complete, I just installed a VM running Windows 10 2004, and 2 of my file servers were not visible, the Freebox mini4K and a Synology DS209 (on DSM 4.2). While the Synology DS716 (on DSM 6.2) was accessible.
By enabling SMBV1 on W10, I was able to regain file access to the 2 servers. So, an older Synology requires SMBV1.

Hello,
thank you for all these quick responses. You understand that I'm not very skilled in computer stuff, so I don't know the names of the cables. I managed to make the Syno appear, but it asks for the username and password—where are they? I know it's not smart, but that's how it is. I saw that there was a USB port, and I need a male-to-male cable, but I don't have one. I'll go get one tomorrow and connect the Syno directly to the PC. I hope that this way it will work. I'll keep you updated.
thanks again to everyone.-
Hi
No, the USB port is meant to connect a peripheral to the Syno, like a USB stick or an external hard drive
It does not ensure communication with a PC
As for the login and password, they were set during installation (by default there is a user named admin, the password is known only by you, or the person who installed this Syno)
Who installed this Syno?

Yes, but is it the password for the Syno or the network?
Here is an interesting page http://www.sosmotdepasse.com/mot-de-passe-par-defaut-synology.html
I believe that initially... As @kaumune said (hi), the username is "admin" and the password is empty... so you don't need to type anything and just hit "Enter" directly... if someone has set a password, it can become very, very complicated...
Additionally, if you enter too many incorrect passwords, your PC's IP will be banned for two or three days... You could connect from another PC with the correct password, otherwise that one will be banned too.
It is wise to have a "trick" to recover passwords in case of necessity... Suppose you have 300 passwords.. -
Good evening,
the problem is solved. I took all my equipment to a repairman who fixed everything for me. I found all my files and programs, and everything is back in order. I thank you all for your kindness and precious advice, but it was beyond my limited abilities.
thank you again, you are wonderful. -

Well, all the better, and thank you for this feedback.
I remain curious to know how he bypassed the password on a Syno..??
