Speed issue on Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Closed

Question

Hello,  Configuration: Windows / Chrome 81.0.4044.138  Following a PC change, I can't get my new integrated network card to work properly. The chipset is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller on an Asus motherboard. Normally my network connection is 100Mbps downstream and 5Mbps upstream. With this network card, I have the correct downstream speed but the upstream is nearly zero.  By adjusting the "speed and duplex" setting, I get: - autonego or 1Gbps or 100Mbps --> downstream OK and upstream KO - 10Mbps --> downstream at 10Mbps (logical) and upstream 5Mbps OK I can't get both correct downstream and upstream speeds at the same time.  I have installed the latest drivers. I should mention that I checked the connection with a USB/Ethernet dongle and it works normally.  Since I achieve a correct upstream speed by limiting to 10Mbps, I suspect a configuration issue but with the number of parameters on the card, I don't know where to look.  Thank you for your help.

Hi, how do you measure your upload/download speed? On a local Ethernet connection, both speeds must be equal; otherwise, there is no connection. If you have another PC on the local network, try a connection test with iperf stop fiddling with the speed settings and leave it on Auto, 99% of the time it's better that way, except in very particular conditions where auto-negotiation goes wrong, which is quite rare with gigabit cards.  -- and ... There you go!

Hi, have you tried testing a gigabit standard Ethernet cable? Your cable is probably not compliant.

Hello,  Thank you for your initial feedback.  It's not the connection, nor the cable, and it's not the PC.  For the tests, I simply did a speed test; usually, I have 94 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.  In autoneg, it's not working as explained; I'm in the 1%.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

@brupala: I've been talking about my internet connection from the beginning; if you read my message properly instead of making your unpleasant comments and allusions (between the chair and the keyboard, I'd give you a piece of my mind). When we talk about upload and download speeds, what else could it be but internet speed? There's not much between your chair and keyboard anyway.
