Hello, my ASMT 2155 500GB hard drive hasn't been working for a few months, and I wanted to recover the data today, but it is not recognized like it was a year ago when it was working perfectly. I tried to initialize it, but it doesn’t work; it tells me that it is not ready. I have already tried plugging it into another USB port, using a different cable, or even connecting it to other computers, but nothing changes. I also tried updating the drivers, but it tells me that the hard drive is already up to date. I have already tried uninstalling it, unplugging it, and then restarting my computer, but the same problem persists. However, I don't think it's dead because there is still that LED on when I connect it, and it even appears as a "device," although it is an unidentified device.

Hello
test the disc with "crystal disc info "
it's a software that allows the user to know the status of their hard drive.
download it here
This software is well designed, indeed it has a color system to inform you about the status of your HDD/SSD:
- Blue > the hard drive/SSD has no issues
- Green > the hard drive/SSD has no issues
- Yellow > caution the hard drive/SSD has defective sectors, back up your data as soon as possible, then replace the HDD/SSD
- Red > the hard drive/SSD is very damaged, change it, it is about to fail
If possible, recover the data.
- Gray the hard drive/SSD is detected but no longer works.
You also have Hard Disk Sentinel with more detailed results on the number of deteriorated sectors and the percentage of defects in the HDD/SSD.
