I’m joining the discussion about what’s happening with your WD My Passport :)

I’ve seen that the topic is already marked as “Resolved” and I absolutely support the suggestions and solutions provided by @glg29. It’s true that there’s no need to install a driver natively in the operating system. Nevertheless, I wanted to step in to ask you for a few details about your USB device which apparently refuses to reveal itself to perform its functions :).

Could you please provide me with a few details clarifying the situation you’re experiencing, please :)

The link that @glg29 sent you contains important information :) The description you provided in your initial message makes me think these are SES drivers. For this reason I’m sending you a bit more reading: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=6JuZG6 + http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=E2a6G3 . Apparently the procedure you described in your initial message is that of the WD device driver, i.e. Device Manager > “WD Ses Device” > right-click WD Ses Device > Update driver > point to “browse my computer” > click on the virtual CD > click the disk > in the “extra” folder you’ll find “WD device driver” > click below to mark it > Next, is that the case?

Have you ever used your WD My Passport on this machine? Please don’t hesitate to give me all the details, including the initial problem, so we can review the situation and commit to the right path :)
