Hello,
I have a laptop that I would like to connect to a screen. However, the ports do not match.
The laptop has a DisplayPort and the screen has an HDMI port.
What cable should I buy and with what adapter, please?
Since I already have an HDMI cable, would it be enough to just get the adapter?
Should I get an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter to connect to my PC, and then use my HDMI cable to connect to the screen, or should I get a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to connect to the screen and then use a DisplayPort cable to connect to my PC?
It can really be confusing!
Thank you in advance.

I would love to change the world, but it won't provide me with the source code.

Well, you buy an HDMI-DP adapter and vice versa.
It works in both directions.

Sometimes, simple answers can be useful.-
Well... no!
Adapters do not (always) work in both directions.
If you are outputting an image from DP to an HDMI receiver, you will need a DP TO HDMI adapter, whereas if you are outputting from HDMI to DP, it is the opposite.
An HDMI to DP adapter may not work since DP is the source and not the receiver.- DP to HDMI means that the input is DP and the output is HDMI? In other words, you insert a DP cable into the adapter and what comes out is an HDMI connector?
Is that what it means?

The Amazon link I posted in my previous post is not an adapter but a cable that has one end DP and the other HDMI. How can I tell if the signal is going from DP to HDMI or the other way around, or if it can do both? - The cable you chose is suitable. Since both DP and HDMI are digital, a simple DP output to HDMI input cable is enough. Some people have given positive feedback because they used it incorrectly. Instead of DP to HDMI, they did the opposite. They connected HDMI as the output from the GPU and DP as the input to the screen.
