TV Thomson 65US6016 lighting issue

Hello,

Here’s the problem: the TV turns on with the Thomson and Android logos, then the backlight goes off. The LCD panel works, the sound too, and when I shine a light in front, I can navigate the menus and operate the TV. But a TV without an image is not very useful.

I completely disassembled it to check the backlight. All the LEDs light up. I tested it by powering it on without any other connections. The LEDs light up for 10 to 20 seconds, then they start to increase in brightness and go off.

On the power board, the 6 capacitors don’t seem to be bloated.

Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 79.0.3945.79

Hello, I have exactly the same issue as you with the same TV. I have replaced the three boards (power, main, and T-con) without any change to the problem. It seems to be a failure of a capacitor on the panel powering the LEDs... but intervening requires further disassembly... have you resolved the issue?
Best regards. DF.

Hello,

Replacing the LED or LEDs is a real hassle, your Thomson TV is actually a TCL TV with the Thomson logo. During disassembly to access the LED strips (for a 40-inch Thomson: 3 LED strips at a modest price of 58 euros including shipping), they decided as a joke to glue the screen, which needs to be detached from the mask all around the perimeter of the screen, when the 4 corners of the screen were enough, but with a cutter you're bound to ruin the screen. Good luck.
