Wifi: no equipment installed

Hello,

my MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009), OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.6 (15G22010) is no longer connecting to Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi symbol is gray with a cross inside, and when clicked, it says "Wi-Fi no hardware installed." What should I do, please?

    I definitely think that your network card has issues,
    I don't know if we can troubleshoot (analyze the problem) on a MacBook
    like we do on Windows, but try to "analyze" your network card,
    And a few questions:
    Is your PC recent or old,
    Have you added any components to your PC?

      Hello again! Yes, so try to "see" if your network card is either:
      1 - Old and no longer working
      2 - Poorly connected to the rest of your components
      3 - Broken

      Hello Johan,
      After checking (2 - Poorly connected to the other components), I restarted it and the Wi-Fi worked for a few minutes then disconnected again. There is no response when I click on "Turn on Wi-Fi" (System Preferences/Networks).
      As for 1 and 3 (Old or Broken), I don't know how to check that.
