Hello,
I bought an external SSD, Sandisk Extreme Portable, less than a month ago to lighten the hard drive of my computer.
I transferred half of the hard drive of my computer to this external drive using the encryption offered by the device, which was a mistake!
I never write down any passwords and I always remember them, but this time I wrote it down, so I didn’t memorize it, and I lost the paper!
So I know from reading other questions on the topic that you don’t provide a step-by-step guide in this case; I just want to know if I can hold out hope of recovering the data that is encrypted on this disk, for instance by contacting a computer repair technician.
Thank you.

Hello
Yes, a computer repair technician can help you, ask for a quote beforehand to avoid scams like: it's not possible, I'll send it to a clean lab = €3000!!!
And Google is your friend... ;)

Thank you, Navibot, for this response that gives me a bit of hope. I'm going to wait a little before completely hating computing...
I imagine that the end of your message is a barely hidden invitation to go look for a solution with my friend Google. I've looked a bit but probably not in the right place; the SanDisk Secure Access site... states that with version 3, it's impossible to recover the password if lost, no security questions (absurd!), which really annoyed me.
I will continue to reach out to my friend, but I'm afraid that tinkering (I'm not good at tinkering with computing!) with software picked up here and there might make my SSD rebel and that the gods of computing will punish me! And that I'll lose my data for good.
I'm going to keep searching nonetheless.
Have a good evening.
