Hello everyone,

I recently bought a desktop computer that I decided to upgrade by buying component parts like new fans for cooling and a new SSD.

When I installed my new SSD along with the old HDD containing Windows 10.

When I restarted my computer with my new components, I got an "inaccessible boot device" error. I thought the error might be due to the BIOS menu, so I changed some settings WITHOUT SAVING THEM (big mistake on my part). After a few unsuccessful attempts, the problems were still there, so I reset the BIOS settings to default. Except it didn't work.

I am now not even able to start my computer properly with my base setup (just the HDD) and the problem remains unsolved.

I am almost 100% sure that the issue comes from the BIOS since that is the only thing I modified. I would need help from those who know what I could do to make it work at least as it did before.

Thank you in advance,

    Hello,
in the BIOS you normally have the boot order with your SSD and your hard drive, you need to find that menu.

Yes, I spent a lot of time trying to reset the boot order settings as they were before, I've tried everything but it doesn't work. I'm not sure if that's the issue.

      Any other suggestions?

you can try a clear cmos via battery or jumper > https://www.supinfo.com/articles/single/1121-clear-cmos-3-manieres-effectuer

you should make a windows installation key with another computer to see if you can boot from it and install windows on the ssd

    Hello,
didn't you clone the old HDD to the new SSD?

      No,
when I bought my SSD, I plugged it directly into my computer with the old HDD. I took the time to set the boot order so that my HDD would launch Windows, but it didn't work. They can't start my computer if they are both connected together.

Is it a SATA SSD or M.2?
    What is your motherboard?
