BIOS does not recognize SSD disk in UEFI

Question

Hello,

I am trying to install Windows 10 on a DELL Latitude with an M2 SATA SSD,

when I set the BIOS to UEFI mode, I cannot install Windows on the disk. I switch to legacy mode, I install Windows, it restarts to continue the installation, everything is perfect.

I remove the USB drive and it does not boot. It needs the USB drive to boot.

I try to switch to UEFI, it won’t boot either with or without the USB drive.

The disk is only detected in UEFI, in legacy mode it doesn't see any disk.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to share.

Good evening,

If you want a UEFI installation, you need to install Windows in UEFI mode... You cannot switch afterward.. If you can't, it means you haven't prepared your SSD properly...
You don't mention it, but this SSD must be new and never formatted..??

-- Furthermore, your Windows 10 on the USB drive may not be the right one... not suitable for what you want to do ... UEFI.

Hello Jeannets,

for the laptop, it was formatted due to a virus, I bought it second-hand (apparently the gentleman was fed up with it). The machine has never been opened, it has the disk installed at the factory by Dell.
when installing Windows, I cannot format when I am in UEFI. Some forums say I need to convert to MBR and others say not to because it's an old technology and I would lose performance.

for Windows, could you guide me towards a particular version?

there's this article I found that concerns me but it doesn't work, I cannot install in UEFI.

I’ve tried installing all the drivers, all the Windows updates. Nothing!!!!

Windows 10 Pro v1803

Rufus 1.4.10.514

During the installation in UEFI and AHCI or RAID, the message says that the disk has an MBR partition table, the system is EFI but it needs a GPT disk.

If I install in legacy mode, everything works except that the USB key needs to be in the port at startup. If I remove it, no bootable devices found.

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the delay, I really needed my laptop, so I took it for repair, they installed a new Windows for me. He didn't want to tell me how he did it.

Once at home, I see that it's in UEFI and that in the BIOS boot sequence there's only Windows Boot Manager, I didn't like the installed Windows as it was a modified version. So I reinstalled another version of Windows (setup.exe) and it works
