Hello,
I want to format my hard drive, but there’s no way to do it from Windows.
So I would like to do it through BIOS (or CMOS). At the very beginning of the computer startup, you need to press "Delete" several times to hopefully access the BIOS (or CMOS) function. I know you can format the disk from there, but I don't remember how to operate once I'm in the "menu."

If anyone has done this before and can help me, could you please tell me how I should proceed?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

It is not advisable to format the hard drive from the BIOS. Some BIOS versions may allow for low-level formatting, but in practice, it's lengthy and unnecessary (even dangerous).

The hard drive should preferably be formatted from an operating system (for example, Windows). If you don't have access to the system, it's possible to create a bootable USB drive. This will allow you to repair or reformat via the command line (which is not the BIOS).

If you want to format, I suppose it might be to reinstall Windows... In that case, you just need to start the Windows installation. During the process (not right at the beginning, but after a few steps), the Windows installer will give you the option to format. Therefore, it is unnecessary to format in advance.
