Good evening,
I'm sorry in advance if I'm not using the right terms, but I'm using a lot of things I don't quite master. And thank you in advance if you can help me, I'm a bit lost here :)
I've been trying for several days to update the BIOS of my HP Pavilion 17 notebook because I can't boot my Windows installation USB (it shows the Windows + HP logo loading, and then a black screen). I'm pretty sure the problem comes from the BIOS since I'm able to boot the USB without any issue on other computers.
So I followed the procedure recommended by HP (https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/document/c00131952) which involves preparing a bootable USB with the update and launching the installation program in the BIOS. I need to press F2 (to launch the System Diagnostics) and here's the screen that appears when I boot into it:
So there's no "firmware management" in the list, whereas according to the procedure recommended by HP, this tab would allow me to access the files on my USB drive. I think it's because my BIOS version is too old (I had version F.30).
I then performed a "boot recovery" (Windows + B, while starting the computer), with the USB drive plugged in. The drive's activity light was blinking throughout the recovery procedure. Now my BIOS indicates it is at the version I wanted to install (F.57) but nothing has changed, the interface is the same, I still can't boot my Windows installation USB, and I still can't "properly" install the latest version of the BIOS since, as nothing has changed, the "firmware management" tab still does not appear in F2: System Diagnostics.
I also tried to launch the update by going through Boot from EFI file, but the file on my USB that would allow me to start the update does not appear (whereas on my other PC it shows up perfectly in the file explorer).
Anyway, I'm out of ideas. I feel like I've tried everything and nothing works.
Thanks in advance and feel free to ask me for more details if you want to help me :)

Hey, yes, but you're harming yourself. The BIOS update file needs to be at the root of the USB drive, not in a compressed folder. So, you need to unzip it to the root of the drive? The root is D:\ if your drive is D. So the file should be unzipped directly, not in a folder. This doesn't apply D:\Dossier\fichierquimeprendslatete.zip; it should be unzipped to D:\fichierquimarche.extentionautrequezip.

Thank you for this quick response!
What I don't understand is that it's an HP program that created the USB drive automatically, so if the file is in a folder, there’s probably a reason for it.
So I still tried copying the file 0227A.bin (the one I need to execute via the "firmware management" tab according to the tutorial) to the root of the USB drive, but the USB drive still doesn't appear in the "boot option menu," so I can't boot from it normally, nor by using "boot from EFI file," since none of the files on the drive are detected by the computer.
To me, this makes sense because my USB drive prepared by the HP program is not actually a bootable drive, since according to the tutorial I shouldn't boot it but it should be used via an internal function of the HP BIOS ("firmware management"). For your information, the program provided by HP is not directly the BIOS update, but it's an executable that can flash a USB drive or update the BIOS of the used computer.
Would it be possible to create a bootable USB drive (with Rufus for example) that would allow me to update the BIOS?
