Hello,
I wanted to add a Gmail address to Mozilla Thunderbird. So I went through the standard process of adding an account. Once I reached the step for the IMAP and SMTP settings, I entered the parameters correctly. The verification of the password and username was going in circles. So I clicked on Cancel to finish. A little later, I did some research online to figure out what the problem might be. I understood that I needed to change some security settings for my Gmail account directly on the website. From there, I restarted Mozilla Thunderbird and started the Gmail account addition again. But when I clicked on finish, it displayed "the incoming mail server already exists." So I checked in "Tools" > "Account Settings," and the Gmail account in question does not appear. I also looked in "Outgoing Server (SMTP)," and there was indeed a line for Gmail with the email address in question. But after deleting that line, the problem is still present. Could you please tell me how I can start from scratch to correctly add this account all the way through?
I am using the latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird.
Thank you.

Thank you for your help.

Here is the solution I was given on another forum that works perfectly!

Try this:
close Thunderbird.
in the search bar, type %APPDATA%
the explorer should open to this directory
then go to
Roaming>Thunderbird>profiles>XXXXXXX.default (XXXXXX corresponds to what appears as your profile)
then go to >ImapMail
there, you should have imap.gmail.com or something like that.
rename it to imap.gmail.com.old
and restart Thunderbird.
