Question

Hello, I need to enter a text with quotes in Latin and Italian: the words are sticking together. How can I avoid this? Thanks    Configuration: Windows / Firefox 74.0

Converting these files to the docx format?
Merging these docx documents into a single document?

And how do you actually proceed with this transfer?

Thank you for your interest in my problem.
I receive the lectures by email as attachments. I save them as .docx files. So far, so good. Then, I need to modify the margins, font types, etc., to ensure they all have the same formatting. And that's when the words "stick" together, especially when it comes to quotes in Latin or Italian.
Then, I copy and paste to insert each lecture in its place in the single file I created for editing (which I call formatting the conference). And again, at the moment of this "transfer," I often find words stuck together... It's a real headache and especially a lot of wasted time.
I hope I've explained my problem clearly enough for you to identify what manipulation error I might be making to cause this issue.

I must admit that I have never seen this phenomenon, and I have never heard of it, neither on CCM nor elsewhere.
I suggest you open a blank document and enter a sentence in Latin and another in Italian: what happens?

Furthermore, I invite you to send us an excerpt from your file containing glued words.

 1) Go to https://www.cjoint.com/

and if you paste it into Notepad do you have the same phenomenon?
If not, you can go through it before pasting into Word.
It's a way to get rid of all the 'exotic' characters.

Hi, Jasmine.  I'm glad I scolded you, because now you can attach files, like a grown-up ...    You're right: The problem doesn't come from the file, nor apparently from the software, but more likely from the computer. Indeed, I made all the corrections, then performed a copy-paste: everything went perfectly!  I didn't notice any strange formatting, no special paragraph settings ... But just in case, check if unchecking the option "automatically adjust spacing between words and sentences" can resolve your issue.  Kiss. -- Retirement is great! Especially in the Caribbean ... I'll see in practice if the suggested workaround solves my problem... It would be great because I have about sixty conferences to format... I’ll keep you posted, I promise.
I don't want to take up too much of your time, but I would like to present you with another mystery: last summer, I had worked extensively on another conference; one fine morning, the file disappeared from my screen. Impossible to find it... When I took the computer to the technician, he assured me that it shouldn't be a problem, that he would definitely find it... Well, no, lost forever... I had to redo my work.
What could have happened for a file (and only one) to disappear? Well, rest assured, it doesn't keep me up at night, but I admit that it was hard to take at the time.

The safest thing when you have important files is to have a cloud storage (online backup space) like Google Drive.
For free, you already have enough space to store quite a few documents, and you can expand the size for not too much money.
Regularly, you copy a version over there and try to keep 3-4 different ones.
In the event of an accident, you only lose the latest changes.

If even a computer scientist, with the computer at their disposal, hasn't found the file, you can imagine that I don't have the solution ...
But a few clarifications:
- Did you have, as is highly recommended for all important work (in size and value), backup copies?
- Were you working directly on the hard drive, as you should, or on a USB stick (which should only be used to transfer a file)?
- Were you on a laptop (with a battery), or on a desktop computer (with a power outlet)? And was there a power outage or another technical incident?
- You say "the folder": is it the file (document) itself, or the directory containing the file?
- Had you already saved the file? Do you remember its name? And the name of the folder in which this file was saved?

The coronavirus has arrived in Guadeloupe, with a few days delay. 
Despite the lockdown in place, the epidemic stage has already been reached: more than 45 cases, including one death, for an island of 400,000 inhabitants!

I had been working on my desktop PC and the folder (The History of Our Diocese) and its contents (30 lectures) disappeared. At that time, I wasn't making backups..... Since then, I have acquired an external hard drive! Was there a power flicker? I couldn't say. And why did that particular file disappear, the most important one to me? I gave the IT technician the references: folder name, titles of all the lectures..... He couldn't do anything. Luckily, the friend for whom I do this work had kept the originals of the lectures, so I was able to start the work again...... No matter, that's in the past.
