Hello
What jack connection?

Which port are you trying to plug your headset into?

What are the references (Brand and model) of your headset, so that we can find the right converter to make it work.

It is very difficult to catch a black cat in a dark room.
Especially when it isn't there...

Here we go, I'm getting to it:
Buy a DAC (= Digital to Analog Converter, in French Convertisseur de numérique à analogique)
https://www.amazon.fr/Convertisseur-Analogique-Adaptateur-dAlimentation-dAluminium/dp/B06XHRYW2C/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1526570340&sr=8-4&keywords=audio+dac&dpID=41XrYH43YXL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
Connect a simple RCA cable between the SPDIF output of the TV and the DAC, the headphones to the headphone output of the DAC
The volume is adjusted with the small potentiometer
For power, use a free USB port on the TV, or buy a 220-> USB adapter:
https://www.amazon.fr/Chargeur-Adaptateur-secteur-USB-Universel/dp/B004QH53QE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1484385180&sr=8-2&keywords=prise+220v+usb
Some configuration may be needed in the audio menu of the TV if it doesn't work right away.
This setup does not automatically mute the TV speakers

Hello; I've just registered on the site today. Your message is a bit old, you must have found something by now, but I just bought a Philips TV 55PUS8909 as well and since I ran into the same issue, I found the solution by digging a bit into the Philips menus. I'm sharing it with you, but by now you might have already figured it out, but just in case... it might help others! Maybe it's also applicable to other brands, who knows?

AUDIO OUTPUTS   Optical, Headphones, and TV Speakers

So that the TV audio is no longer cut off when connecting headphones with a 3.5mm jack.

At least this procedure works on a Philips Ambilight TV 55 PUS 8909.

PROCEDURE:

From the Philips remote: Click on the Home button (Little house)

Using the large central directional pad, move to the last line at the top of the screen and select the gear icon all the way to the right / click

Scroll down to "Sound" / click

Scroll down to "Advanced" / click

Scroll down to "Audio Output" (at the end of the line, you'll see the current setting in small text / click on the line)

Simply scroll down to "TV Speakers + headphones"

Finally, click on the Home button to return

The sound from the TV will no longer be cut off when plugging in the headphones, and you can lower the volume of the speakers independently with its own control depending on the model

There you go!!!!

Hello,

Except that this television model does not have a headphone jack.

So it's impossible to follow your procedure.
