how to control a TV remotely?

Hello,
I will explain my problem. My grandmother lives alone, and she has a lot of problems with her TV. She doesn't really know how to use it. Sometimes it’s turned off, and she can't even turn it back on. So I have to go over and reset it for her, etc. It is getting more and more complicated. Without her TV, she can't do anything.
Do you know if it's possible to control a TV remotely? I would like to be able to control her TV from my home, for example to turn it back on, or to remove everything displayed on the screen that she can't get rid of (like menus, etc.). I looked into it a bit but didn’t really find what I was looking for. I mostly came across parental controls, and I'm not sure that would allow me to control the TV as if I had the remote in my hand.

I've never heard of that.
But maybe the problem comes from the fact that the remote is too complicated for your grandmother. There are universal remotes with simplified functions and big basic buttons: on, off, volume, channels...

In my opinion, managing the TV remotely is not possible. TVs only respond to commands from the remote control locally, not to network commands.

Indeed, the simple remote could be a good solution if it's not possible to control the TV remotely.
The problem was that she had a decoder for TNT, so I'm not sure the "simple" remote would have worked (since there were 2 remotes).
For Christmas, we bought her a TV, so I'm going to go buy a remote, as you suggested, in the afternoon to see if it solves the problem to some extent. I had already thought of this solution, but I don’t think it would have worked with her old TV.

PS: unfortunately, the new TV is not a Samsung :(

I hope it works, modern equipment is often complicated for elderly people.
You will surely do it, but I take the liberty to suggest that you make her practice the main actions while you are next to her, or even write down the buttons with their functions on a sheet (or even a photocopy of the remote control with notes) that she can keep next to her TV.
She is lucky to have such caring grandchildren!
