Should you unplug your box at night or not?

If you're with Orange, it's better to leave it on, unfortunately, for no reason because their damn DLM (Dynamic Line Management) system might think that your box is malfunctioning and conclude that it needs to lower your speed.

You shouldn't unplug it, the consumption is negligible, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, if your line is under DLM from Orange (regardless of the ISP, since the line belongs to Orange), you risk removing a setting that takes a few days to stabilize, which will cause "noise" that can sometimes be audible on the TV, but also very disruptive to the quality of the connection, possibly leading to disconnections.

Example:
Under DLM before unplugging the box, 12,000 kbps downstream and 10 dB noise margin, stable line.
After unplugging, 14,000 kbps and 8 dB or less noise margin with disconnections.

Personally, I wouldn't unplug it; as you said, it's designed to be on 24/7, and I don't think the electricity consumption of a box is that huge. Moreover, by unplugging it, you might risk losing the configuration more than anything else...

It's also advised to keep it on for updates...

However, there's really nothing that contraindicates this practice; perhaps it would be better to compromise and only unplug it in case of really long periods of non-use, but is that really necessary? I don’t know...

Personally, I keep it running 24/7....

My ISP performs remote operations on their boxes at night (every night?). If I unplug mine, it will no longer be up to date.

A quick search online indicates that my box consumes about 11 W, to which I must add about 1.5 W for the TV box in standby and 8 W for the two powerline adapters connecting them, so roughly 20 W.

Then, depending on whether you are a little "green," a lot, or not at all, you will unplug a little, a lot, or not at all...
