Joystick Sidewinder not working anymore

Hello,
The problem: my Sidewinder joystick is no longer working even though it is physically plugged in correctly. I don't even see it in the game options of the control panel, I can't get it recognized and installed by my OS via Plug n' Play, and I no longer see it in my Game Controller Device Manager.
The context:
- I am using Windows 2000 in French version (W2K SP4: I'm patching, still ...). I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick. - This Sidewinder Precision 2 is connected via USB through a USB hub because I don't have enough USB ports on my old machine (purchased in 2000, yes, yes :-) but this hub works well: proof is that my digital camera is plugged into this hub and there are no problems.
- I had a major crash (classic "blue screen of death" typical of NT systems) following a rough use of Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 FR (clearly, Win2K doesn't like Mozilla software, this is my 3rd crash due to the near-conflict between the two). The unexpected disabling of my joystick started after that. Before, no problem with games like Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 1, 2, and 3 or MechWarrior 4.
- I can't find the installation CD for the Sidewinder (bought second-hand). I know that normally drivers for Sidewinders are supposed to be included standard in Windows. But here, precisely, nothing.
- If I go to Control Panel > Game Options, there's no trace of any joystick. If I go to Add > Microsoft SideWinder (automatic detection) > OK, I get the following error message: "The game port or its drivers are missing -- Your game port or drivers are not configured correctly. Please check the Device Manager." In my Device Manager, I go to Sound, Video, and Game Controllers and do not see any game controller. The Plug n' Play detection does not work.
The question: how can I reinstall at least a joystick driver without CDs or reinstalling all of Windows? Can it be found on the Internet? And what procedure should I follow?
Thank you very much to those who take the time to advise me. My apologies to those who may have seen my question in another forum.

Hello
does your message indeed concern the Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick
If so, I might be able to send you a copy of the drivers
But I have a question for you about it: there is a male connector on the joystick, what is it for...? I'm struggling to find the cord, I just moved... is it really necessary....???
it's not for me, I don't know anything about it, but it's for my friend
looking forward to hearing from you-
Hello, I think you're talking about the power cord for the Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick that powers the motor under the controller and the force feedback. No problem, you can find it on an old radio or other electrical device; otherwise, it shouldn't cost much.
I'm used to playing with this joystick, but I took it to Auchan for a button that wasn't working anymore because it was still under warranty. When I wanted to pick up my joystick, they told me that Microsoft doesn’t repair it and that they would refund me. No way, since the joystick is no longer manufactured, I couldn't buy another one, so I asked them to return my joystick even with the broken button. After complaining at Auchan to get my joystick back, they returned it to me, but worse, another button wasn’t working anymore—the one for shooting, the most important one...
So I'm quite embarrassed because it’s no longer for sale, and I would like to know if you would be willing to sell yours if it's in good condition, even without the cord. (send an email)
Thank you -
Hello,
I have a Sidewinder Joystick, I was going to sell it and I was looking for a photo to associate with it when I came across your message! Do you want my Joystick?
Mine has a base made of two slightly offset semicircles, 4 buttons on the left front side, and a stick on the left back... is that the one you had?
I've only used it a maximum of 5 times!
If you're interested, I can sell it to you, just give me your price! However, I don't think I have the power cable either!
Talk later! -

I have exactly the same joystick Doc Herbst. The Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2.
I wanted to reuse it for a game (Just Cause 2, it's a game like GTA a bit) on Windows Seven, I didn’t need the CD to make it work, my problem is to get it working on the game Just Cause 2 ...
Anyway, if you want a copy of the installation CD for the Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick, you can try this link:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/swinderfreestylepro/Install/3.02/W9X/EN-US/SWGameEN.exe
And if it doesn’t work, I can make an ISO of my CD for you. If you want me to make the ISO, reply here and I will receive an email notifying me of a response.
