PC not detecting my Samsung tablet

Hello,

I searched the internet and on CCM, but I couldn't find the answer that concerns me.
I have a Samsung Tab A (2016), Android. My PC runs Windows 7.
When I connect my tablet to my PC via USB cable, it does not recognize it. It only charges.
When I connect another device to the same USB (camera, external hard drive), it works just fine.

Does anyone have a solution, please?

Thank you for your reply.

I read your link, and when I pull down the notifications on my tablet, I do not see the USB connection symbol.
I have all the symbols starting from the left, except for the two arrows (upload and download). So I don’t have what is in the red box: USB charging. Tap to access other USB options. Therefore, I cannot find "media transfer" or "file transfer."

Could you perhaps tell me more?

"You need to find something similar in the notifications.
First, you need to turn on the tablet and connect it to the computer. Look around the notifications a bit, as it's not always visible at first glance.

There is another way to proceed:
Go to the Tablet Settings and click on About Tablet
Then tap 7 times on Build number or Version number.
This will activate the Developer Options.
Once that's done, you'll have an additional line in the Settings called "Developer Options".
This is quite an important menu.
Inside you will find USB Configuration which allows you to choose what you want to do when you're connected to the computer.
If you can't find it, enable USB Debugging."

My tablet has been turned on and connected to my PC from the beginning.
I've been looking in the notifications for a while and have tried several methods. But nothing.

For the other way to proceed, it's not working. Model number, serial number, I've tapped 7 times on each. Nothing. I even looked for developer options, nothing either.

I don't know if I have a particular tablet, but in any case, I can't find anything related to USB mode.

I don't understand why you can't find the notification.

For the second method, I went too fast and skipped a step. Here is the correction:
You go to:
Settings > About tablet > Software information > Version number (or build number) which you tap on 7 times.
I apologize for this oversight.

I found the developer options and the USB configuration. It tells me that I am in MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode. Is that correct?
If so, what actions should I enable or disable? I don't want to mess anything up.

So, I just tested with my smartphone and its cable, and it works very well. I can't do it with my tablet's cable, it's not the same connector.
For my tablet, I have its own cable. which means I need, I think, another Samsung cable. for the moment I'm unable to test.

But if the tablet charges with its own cable, can it have a USB connection issue?

Hello,

The problem is starting to become clear.
It's either the cable or the socket on the tablet that's not working properly.
This helps understand why you don't get a notification when you connect.

If it's the cable, that's not a big deal. I think it's a standard micro USB/USB cable. You can find one everywhere easily. It doesn't have to be a Samsung cable.
If it's the socket on the tablet, that’s much more troublesome. You’ll need to go through a repair service. Just check that there’s no dust inside (brush, compressed air can).

For now, you can connect using Wifi. I'll refer you to the tutorial I made: here.
You just need to download a file manager that supports network connections. The tutorial is detailed. It works well and the communication is as fast as with the cable.

For the wifi, it's more complicated; the signals don't reach my room. That's why I'm using a plug-in for my PC/router. I would need to have the tablet near the router and my PC in the room. Not possible.

A quick clarification please.

To transfer files from my PC to the tablet, do both need to be connected to the router?
Because if the answer is "yes," that might be the problem. The tablet is not connected from my room, as the Wi-Fi doesn't reach there due to the distance and the thickness of the walls.
Which would mean I would have to place the tablet near the router, and then I wouldn't be able to connect the PC to the tablet. Do you see what I mean?

So... my PC is connected to the box via powerline. There must be 30m from the box to my PC.

So if I want to have a connection on my tablet, I need to go to the box because the Wi-Fi doesn’t reach my room. L-shaped hallway and walls too thick.

So when I connect my tablet to my PC via USB (both in my room), nothing happens.

If I leave the tablet near the box to have a connection, can I transfer files from my PC to the tablet, considering the difficulty of the distance?
