How to convert a SoftMaker text to PDF for mailing?

Hello everyone, Since I no longer have access to Word, my husband installed the word processor from the SolfMaker suite (TextMaker); I am very satisfied with it, except for the fact that one email correspondent cannot open the attached files I saved; he is asking me to convert them to PDF, but in the "save as" dropdown menu, PDF is not present. What should I do?

Hello,
Instead, use LibreOffice which you can download and install.
Open your file with LibreOffice then click on File, then on Export to..., then on Export directly to PDF format

Thank you Bazfile for your quick response, however, since I returned a bit later to the forum, I read both replies and since it seemed easy to use TextMaker directly, I did it and with Eugene's response I managed to turn my text into a PDF
Thanks again

Hello,
In TextMaker, there is a PDF icon in the menus, and it works very well and very simply; you just need to click on it.

Thank you very much, Eugene. I indeed went to "file" in my TextMaker document and was able to export it as a PDF. I now hope that my correspondent can read it, because oddly enough, when I wanted to reread this sent letter, I couldn't open the attachment in PDF!
Thank you anyway

@Lixette,
Weird, it works perfectly on my computer.
Try doing the following: with the TextMaker text that you just wrote on the screen and saved, you don't need to go to "File"; just click directly on the PDF icon in the Menu, as indicated in my post, the conversion happens before your eyes in a few moments, the PDF document saves itself under the same name as the TextMaker text, but with the .pdf extension, and you can send it as an attachment with an email.
It couldn't be simpler...

Eugène, sorry for not replying sooner, but I was waiting to find out if my correspondent was able to open the attached PDF file – I’ve just received confirmation: he couldn’t do it either!
The program that my husband installed instead of Word is called SolfMaker Free Office 2018 (free), and if I want to proceed as you indicated in my TextMaker document, I can only save in 6 text document formats, namely: RTF/OOXML/ODT/MS-DOS/text document/and Unicode text document, but PDF is not among these file options.
Well, I will resolve this by using the LibreOffice program – but I admit that it's a bit annoying!
One question, though: Could you still tell me (aside from PDF) what you think is the best file format for saving my documents? Thank you.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I'm not quite sure I understand your problem; I use SoftMaker, the latest free version from 2018, which I update regularly, and when I write a text, I save it in the .tmdx format that is offered by default.
If I want to convert it to PDF, I just need to have the text on the screen, click on the PDF icon, and I get a PDF document in just a few moments; there's no need to go to the File/Save As... menu, it saves itself in that format.
I have sent many of them to correspondents without any issues. It's the only system I've used to date, and I am very satisfied with it. I do not use LibreOffice.
In my opinion, if you send texts (other than PDFs), the simplest thing is to ask your correspondents what type of files (the most common being .doc, .docx, and .rtf) they would like to receive, based on their usual software.
Is your SoftMaker working correctly? Maybe a reinstallation...
Sorry that I can't be of more help.
Best regards.

But, Eugene, you have been a great help to me, as I just arrived there by following your explanations to the letter! Thank you again, I didn't even see the PDF Icon that was blocking my view! (shame on me!) - and it works! THANK YOU
However, should I open another post on this forum to solve another problem? I can't number my pages when I create a document on TextMaker, while it was so easy with Word!...
Here’s how I proceed: I open "file", then "page setup", and in the window that opens, I have to click on "chapter" to see the "page numbers" box, but then nothing goes right! I can't do it, no matter what I try! I could really use a step-by-step guide!
Thank you again, Eugene, for whatever you can do to make my life easier! I'm really ashamed of my almost nonexistent IT knowledge! (What can I say, I was born too early in a world that is going too fast!!! - laughs)
Thanks again, I marked my topic as resolved.
Have a good afternoon

Hello,
I just looked at the page numbering system in Text Maker, which is not very straightforward.
You should (but to be checked) go to Insert/Footer starting from the first page, which creates a footer.
Then click on the footer you just created and go to Insert/Page Number/Page Number, which gives you a number 1 as well as the following numbers on the other pages, positioned to the left.
You can then click on number 1 and position it where you want using the left, center, and right icons. The other pages will follow suit...
There are various options you can try out.
Best regards.

You're really great, Eugene. I just read your response and in less than 5 minutes, I was able to number my pages. Thank you for your kindness (and your thoughtfulness)
Have a great evening
