Hello,
I would like to move an RJ45 socket. I don't want to add one, just relocate it. However, it’s farther away, so how can I add some cable (about 1.5m)?

Hi,
to do it neatly and properly, you would need to replace the entire cable from the other end to the location of the new wall socket.
But honestly, for 1.50m, just leave your socket where it is and use a longer cable to reach your device, unless there are particular constraints that you haven't mentioned: like another room for example or an inaccessible socket.
Another option, which is ugly but effective if you're not doing gigabit ethernet or analog TV (aerial) in the pairs, is to extend with a piece of cable and scotchlocks; that's common in telephony.

I'm interested in it for repairing a very thin quadruple wire from the thermostat to my balanced flue gas boiler, which an idiot had nicked (no, it wasn't me); with this, it would be neater. How does it work for such thin wires?

Like all these videos, it's unnecessarily chatty.
For occasional use, a universal clamp is enough, even without a clamp if you have a strong grip or your teeth if it's soft.
Well, I need to get that, you can find it in packs of 100 pieces but I only need 4, I'll ask my neighbors/colleagues if they have any :-)
Thanks for the video, I should have thought of that system, but it's been so long since I've worked on mechanics :-)
