RJ45 wall sockets not working Solved

Question

Hello. I am in a new building with RJ45 wall sockets in every room and an electrical panel. I have Free mini 4K. I play on the Xbox and the Switch. Through the Xbox, I also watch Canal+ and Netflix. Problem: the Wi-Fi internet connection is terrible and prevents me from playing online or watching a movie without internet interruptions or cut-off communication. During a connection test on Xbox, it gives me: 7.5 Mbps download and 8.9 Mbps upload... on the Switch, it's even worse. I have unplugged and replugged everything, the best I've had on Xbox is 30 Mbps... in short, fluctuating, unstable, and inconvenient. That’s why I’m desperately trying to connect at least the Xbox via Ethernet using the RJ45 wall socket, but I can't manage to do it. So far, Free has installed fiber for me: Free modem and fiber box in the electrical closet. They use a plug space consisting of an RJ45 connector and a connection plug that goes from the internet box to the wall socket (plug with a red or green button). If I connect an Ethernet cable from the Xbox to the RJ45 wall socket, nothing happens. I opened the electrical panel but I don't understand anything. If we cannot use these wall sockets to get internet everywhere in the house, what are they for? I’m looking for answers online but I don’t understand what is explained. I have called Free multiple times but for them, I don't have an internet connection problem...

Good evening, I removed the 2 cables that were in place and connected an ethernet cable to the 3rd one, going to the modem, plus an ethernet cable from the Xbox to the wall, and it gives me 600mbit/s in download, a change from 5mbits!!!! So I believe it's working, I'll quickly find out by watching a movie or playing online, thank you very much for your help and your explanations.

Hello, the RJ45 sockets installed like this in houses are used for ADSL, meaning that only 2 wires are connected; you can use them for Ethernet but you need to redo the wiring, both in the sockets and at the point of entry in the electrical box.  If you can post a photo of what you have in your electrical panel, it should technically be a DTI with the gray and white wires connected.  Ideally, you should do: Freebox > RJ45 female (socket) > RJ45 male (electrical panel) > hub/switch > the various RJ45 male cables connected to the switch > RJ45 female (sockets).

Hi, Free can't do anything for you at this level, that's your problem. Wall sockets don't work by magic on their own; they need to be connected to something on the patching side. As already mentioned, try showing us the inside of your communication cabinet by posting photos; you have examples on this forum. You'll also find this kind of diagram that indicates roughly what you need to achieve:

Hello, Thank you for your responses. I am in a new apartment built according to RT2012 standards with RJ45 sockets in every room as shown in your first example photo. On the panel that I dismantled to look behind, I do have RJ45 inputs. I tried connecting a cable from the box to the RJ45 sockets on the electrical panel (+ an ethernet from the Xbox to the wall) but it doesn't work. In my previous apartment, which was also completely new, I didn't need to do anything, but maybe the internet technician had taken care of the necessary connections at the electrical panel (?). I will send you some photos to try to show you. There are several RJ45s on the front, but there are 2 white cables connected, I do not know what they are... I haven't touched those. They are connected from one RJ45 to another RJ45, it's strange. Furthermore, there is another RJ45 on the top of this block of several RJ45s on the upper right of the close-up photo (it looks very similar in any case) but I couldn't manage to get my cable through because I'm blocked by the electrical block above and I don't want to force it. Thanks again for your help. The photos are not clear, I can take more if needed.

Additional photos  Fiber box: fiber cable + double wires which are the plug, connected to the power supply of the panel   Here we can see the 2 white cables. And the black RJ45 plug on the top to the right. However, I noticed that the 2 connectors on the right (where the 2 white wires are), have a small phone logo. On the left block for the other 4 connectors, I didn't see any logo.

Hello,  In your central box, the block with 2 RJ45 sockets on the right is a telephone splitter, it is no longer needed, you can unplug the 2 cords.  The 4 other RJ45 sockets to the right of the DTI are the patch panel, the connection to the wall sockets. Apparently, you have 3 in the apartment, the 4th RJ45 apparently has no cable going to it.  And that's good because your mini 4K has only 3 available Ethernet ports (the 4th being used by the freeplug).  So to have Ethernet on the wall sockets, you need to connect the 3 sockets from the Freebox to the 3 sockets on the patch panel. With Ethernet cords, be careful, the 2 existing ones might only work for the phone.  There is one unknown, have the wall sockets (and even the sockets on the patch panel) been properly connected for Ethernet? Often, out of laziness, only 2 wires of the cable were connected during installation, sufficient for telephone/ADSL, but all 8 need to be connected for Ethernet. You need to confirm once everything is plugged in; if it doesn't work, you will have to dismantle a wall socket for a visual check.
