64-bit PowerPoint code required to insert a video

Hello,
I have PowerPoint 2019 and I can't insert a video that has already been downloaded on my PC. I want to clarify that I'm not trying to embed an online video in my PowerPoint. I've downloaded a codec pack, xcodecpack, recommended by Windows... to no avail. I've also converted the video into different formats... still nothing.
I'm more than surprised to have the latest version of Office and encounter such a basic problem (this is a first for me, as I'm a regular PowerPoint user) and not even find any testimony online... at least in French.
Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 77.0.3865.90

Thank you
I am happy to have solved the problem but very frustrated not knowing how because I did a lot of manipulation... the last thing I did was install
media-player-codec-pack_4-5-4_fr_209486
now I can play the videos inserted in my PPT in mp4 format but not the videos via the internet... I'm happy because I always make sure to download the videos that I include in my PPTs. Thank you so much Marina for your support.
I want to point out that I wasn't able to install certain software... but that's another story!

Good evening,

In any case, that's good news. Thank you for the update, I will share this on my site (faqword.com).
When you say you don’t know how you did it, isn’t it the media-player-codec-pack_4-5-4_fr_209486 that solved the problem?

After that, I think it also depends on the video card and its driver.

Furthermore, you mentioned that you cannot play videos online. Are you talking about YouTube videos embedded in PowerPoint, or playback directly in the browser?

I would like to add that there are not only advantages to working with the 64-bit version, and this version is only recommended when it is truly needed, for instance, for users dealing with very large data in Excel or Access, or indeed handling large media files in PowerPoint.

I can't read YouTube videos when I embed them in PowerPoint in online video insert mode (instead of inserting a video from my PC). This is even though I provide the iframe link instead of the simple video link in the address bar as recommended by Microsoft, I think. The message from PowerPoint is: "Your browser does not recognize any of the available video formats. Click here to view our FAQ on HTML5 videos." When I click, it redirects me to a YouTube page on Chrome that informs me that my browser is up to date and that I can use the latest features of YouTube!!!
