Hello,
To summarize my issue, I upgraded from an iPhone 6 Plus to a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, and since then I’ve noticed my mobile data consumption is much higher on the latter. Since I don’t have internet or TV box at home, I rely exclusively on my phone’s internet connection. I have a 100 GB data plan with a throttled speed after reaching the limit, and I used to get by around 70 GB per month with my iPhone by using it a lot. But from the start of the month, and without changing my habits, I’ve already used 192 GB… almost triple consumption (and in large amounts) without changing anything except the phone…
Another concrete example: during the World Cup, I watched three rugby matches this morning for an equivalent of 15.5 GB used. While researching online, I saw that the data consumption for a match (rugby or soccer) generally ranges between 1 and 2 GB according to many reports, whereas I’m at more than 5 GB if we average the three matches.
There is clearly a problem, and no doubt it comes from this new phone. I’d like to know if someone can help me and if there are one or more steps to take to reduce it? Or if it’s simply a known issue specific to Xiaomi, or to the model in particular, with no solution? I haven’t found anything similar on the internet.
throttled speed remains usable but is far below the comfort offered by an unrestricted connection.
I hope I’ve been clear and thank you in advance.

I have the same problem on my Redmi Note 8! I don't go a day without consuming almost 1GB of data and not using videos much! Just opening Facebook or Instagram makes the consumption accelerate, the same for YouTube, Chrome, Snap, etc.! Unfortunately, this is becoming troublesome and I hope to get a useful response about this.

This normal stuff consumes more on websites (Snap, YouTube, Google) than on games. It takes A LOT less data on video games (PUBG, Fortnite, Asphalt 9, etc.)
